Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes. They will gather current practices being performed of equipment cleaning and operating processes, and prepare and revise batch records, operating instructions, and cleaning instructions. The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will conduct process improvement studies in the areas of operational productivity, process control, quality processing, employee safety, process yield improvement, and environmental impact in a lean environment. Additional responsibilities of intern would be to provide indirect supervision of technicians, and operators as required. Develop any training documentation or visual aids to assist with training or documentation or verification of effectiveness of training.

What You'll do as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern

  • Assist in Production Processes: Support the production team in daily operations, including machine setup, operation, root cause problem solving, and maintenance.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections and tests to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lean Manufacturing Projects: Participate in projects aimed at improving efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities and quality control results. Update or create operating instructions. 

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Sophomore year requirements must be completed by program start (May 2025). 
  • Available to work full-time hours during the internship period.

Preferred:

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.

Other:

  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
