In 1985, STERIS was founded on an idea to transform reprocessing of endoscopes—the more delicate instruments which were increasing in use due to growing use of minimally invasive surgical procedures. From that first spark of an idea, the company has grown from a single-product business to a global organization—built not only on innovation, but also on the legacy of acquired companies, many with roots that extend well beyond our founding year.
