Position Summary

The Cutter & Spreader will spread rolls of material to meet the production schedule as directed and to meet the requirements of the work instructions provided. They will inspect rolled goods for any defects or wrinkles that could affect finished product quality. Once spread, the Cutter & Spreader will select the appropriate pattern needed or measure the appropriate length of the spread based on the cut sheet. The Cutter & Spreader will either mark the material with a pattern or marker. Finally, the Cutter & Spreader will cut the material in accordance with the work instructions. After the cut is complete, the Cutter will organize the cut material to be moved to the next phase of production.

Duties

  • Spread roll goods onto the spreading tables.
  • Mark spread based on finished good being processed utilizing patterns or direct measuring.
  • Cut material based on work instructions for specific item being produced.
  • Operate drill equipment if required by work instructions.
  • Organize final cut goods for moving to next phase of production.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Company’s GMP guidelines.
  • Prepare cut product that is to be released to downstream production areas.
  • Pack cut product that is to be stocked as finished product.
  • Move finished cut product to the appropriate production area.
  • Inform manager of any problems pertaining to production, parts, equipment, or processes
  • Adhere to Shop Practices including proper gowning and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Supports and promotes LEAN operations by following standard work, Safety Observations, Idea Generation and Hour by Hour Board updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • Ability to read a tape measure or other measuring tools (in quarter inch increments)
  • Must be able to perform basic math and count accurately.
  • Operate and maintain machinery.
  • Previous production experience required.

Preferred Experience

  • Ability to use hand tools (drill, cutter).           
  • Two years of fabric cutting or carpentry experience.
  • Ability to read work order or job instructions.

  • Communication: Ability to read, understand and communicate oral and written instruction in English. 
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to carry out provided instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving materials and equipment variation while maintaining quality expectations. Ability to identify and trouble shoot problems.
  • Teamwork: Work effectively and collaboratively with other employees.
  • Adaptability: Respond to changing duties and responsibilities as needed.
