Position Summary

The Supervisor the maintenance programs and processes of the assigned plant(s) to ensure timely and effective production. Coordinates with other management staff to ensure efficiency in preventative maintenance and new equipment installation. Oversees facilities design and inspection, equipment repair and installation.

Duties

  • Provide expert knowledge, instruction, and oversight to the Maintenance Team in their performance Plan, estimate and oversee maintenance related and the support maintenance staff.
  • Oversees facilities design and inspection, equipment repair and installation. Recommend and develop tools and fixtures for improving quality and productivity. Evaluates problematic systems or facilities and determines the installation or repair services that need to be performed
  • Train and guide Technicians during the introduction of new production items. Assist with providing necessary training to Maintenance personnel to ensure adherence to Company, department, policies and procedures.  
  • Lead work over various technicians. This includes but is not limited to; ensure production lines are running, fill in for employee breaks as needed; troubleshoot minor problems with equipment and parts; provide all tracked information (counts, scrap, etc.); make suggestions regarding employee issues (merit, disciplinary, etc.); make suggestions regarding process improvements/changes.
  • Measure PM rates and utilization times with proper documentation to management. Maintain Maintenance Work Order system and generate work orders for all maintenance requests for the machinery, facilities or equipment
  • Point person who maintains an orderly inventory of parts and tools, and as needed shall work with outside vendors to acquire competitive bids for equipment, materials and supplies. 
  • Ensure assigned work group completes all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed Communicate and coordinate efforts with people on team as well as all other levels of the organization. Drives optimum employee performance, talent and talent development. Provides growth, training, and development opportunities to employees. Drives results through effective coaching, and counselling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals.
  • Facilitates a safety culture, performs safety audits to ensure proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), machines, and safeguards, trains individuals on safety procedures and expectations, leads investigations of near misses / incidents and facilitates the implementation of safety and ergonomics improvements.
  • Drives optimum employee performance, talent and talent development. Provides growth, training, and development opportunities to employees. Drives results through effective coaching, and counselling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals. Champions idea generation system across department through providing support to team members in generating and implementing ideas. Ensures idea generation board is updated and best ideas implemented are presented weekly to facility management.           
  • Evaluates performance and escalates needs through proper managing and coaching of team members in relation to SQDC board meetings and daily standard reports (daily production, material requirements, etc). Drive attainment of and improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) performance. Executes, audits, and drives continuous improvement of 5S in department according to STERIS standards. Challenges current state, seeking opportunities to make incremental improvements daily and identifying solutions to remove waste from production activities

Required Experience

  • Associate Degree or 8 years of relevant Maintenance Work with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant Maintenance work with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance 
  • 5 – 7  years of experience working in a manufacturing environment including but not limited to chemical processing and bottling automation processes.
  • 3 to 5 years of leadership experience. The following leadership skills are required: taking the initiative, initiating action, promoting teamwork, championing ideas, taking appropriate risks, translating ideas into specific tasks, gaining confidence and trust of others.

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Advance PLC programming, robotics and electrical certifications preferred
