Position Summary

To weld using stud welding machines for the purpose of manufacturing STERIS® product.

Duties

  1. Set-up and operate stud welding equipment using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable tolerances and standards. 
  2. Ability to build weldments through manual layout process, when required.
  3. Read and interpret STERIS® welding blueprints including standard welding symbols, travelers, and other working documents.
  4. Use required measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.
  5. Communicate clearly, both verbally and written, with Engineers, Quality personnel, supervisors, and fellow team employees.
  6. As a member of a self-directed work group, complete all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed.
  7. Remain safety-conscious at all times, wearing all prescribed safety equipment and observing all safety rules stated in the Associate Handbook.
  8. Conform to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Associate Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS® Management.
  9. Record production activities on computerized material management system (SFC).
  10. Meet all productivity requirements
  11. Perform work to meet all required quality specifications.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Minimum two years experience ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  2. Must be able to demonstrate ability to use a stud welder.
  3. Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.
  4. Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.
  5. Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, and computer skills
  6. Must have high school education or GED equivalent.
  7. Use of both hands required.  Must have ability to stand for long periods of time.  Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds without assistance.
  8. Lean Manufacturing experience and knowledge desired
