Summary:

The Electrical Engineering Intern will gain experience in electronic hardware development and support the Infection Prevention Controls Engineering Team supporting new product development and sustaining of existing products.   The intern will be responsible for executing design tasks and performing testing activities in accordance with predefined system requirements, test plans, data processing, and overall development of electrical engineering products.

What You'll Do as an Electrical Engineering Intern:

  • Assists in Designing, developing, and documenting electrical/control solutions for sub-systems and components to meet company, team and group goals.
  • Measures and characterizes electrical operation of circuits and systems using electrical test equipment.
  • Writes test protocols and reports.
  • Collects and Analyzes Data.
  • Researches and evaluates new hardware technologies for potential integration into products.
  • Communicates results and findings.
  • Works as a collaborative team member in engineering projects.
  • Follows industry codes, standards, and recommendations.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in electrical engineering. Successful completion of Sophomore level coursework or above by May 2025
  • Coursework and labs in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Fundamental understanding and application of electrical engineering principles
  • Experience/coursework with Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CAD/Schematic Capture (i.e., Altium preferred or Zuken/AutoCAD/Visio/ePLAN etc)
  • Sufficient mathematical and hands-on testing skills are required in order to appropriately operate equipment safely and accurately, as well as to properly collect and analyze data

Preferred:

  • Previous experience/coursework with microprocessor interfacing / embedded design (i.e. ARM preferred or MCU/DSP/CPLD/FPGA/ASIC, DACs/A2Ds, JTAG preferred or I2C/SPI/UART, TI Code Composer Studio)
  • Previous experience/coursework with software/firmware programming languages (i.e., C/C++ preferred)

Other:

  • Organizational, communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must have the technical aptitude necessary to perform the tasks and engage as a team player that is detail oriented, communicates well, and follows through
