Position Summary

As the Director, Fleet Administration you will be responsible for all aspects of Fleet Operations in North America including managing a fleet of 2,000 vehicles with 600 reimbursed drivers with an annual spend of $35M. You will manage and develop fleet policies, processes, and procedures in order to optimize the efficiency, cost and safety of the Fleet.  Responsibilities include developing, managing, and executing a sustainable operating model to manage strategic vehicle ordering/delivery, driver support, fuel consumption, safety/accident management, vehicle disposal, vehicle reimbursement programs, and other aspects of fleet operation. You will also provide oversight and management of Fleet Managers, Fleet Administrators and Fleet Analysts, and numerous outside service providers. Working with multiple stakeholders and business units you will lead fleet related continuous improvement initiatives based on business needs and priorities. This position will also provide support and assistance with vendor management, governance, and policy to other geographies.

Duties

•    Directs, optimizes, and coordinates the Fleet Department by developing and managing a sustainable operation model to manage strategic vehicle ordering/delivery, driver support, fuel consumption, safety/accident management, vehicle disposal, and other aspects of fleet operation.
•    Directs the creation of/updates to/and enforcement of fleet policy and procedures to manage vehicle selection, fleet operation, driver accountability, and internal governance.
•    Initiate, monitor, and recommend adjustments to fleet policies to maximize the fleet’s efficiency and profitability, reduce liability exposure, and follow industry best practices. This includes acquisition, maintenance and remarketing as determined by cost effective life cycle analysis.
•    Manages and oversees the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model to analyze and determine what vehicles to purchase/lease, and how they are to be equipped.
•    Develops and executes a focused fleet life cycle management strategy to ensure fleet standardization, brand integrity, and maximization of ROI of company fleet.
•    Directs and engages regular involvement as primary contact with outside fleet administration provider and leasing companies. Negotiates contracts, approves payments, and conducts quarterly fleet reviews with Global Fleet Management companies.
•    Initiates and effectively manages any RFP’s (Request for Proposal) related to fleet service providers.
•    Drives, implements, sustains, and develops quality process improvements that focus on safety, financials, operations, and customer service. (Lean/Six Sigma skills desired).
•    Directs newly acquired organizations to integrate them into STERIS Global Fleet infrastructure and to provide appropriate resources to the newly acquired company car drivers. 
•    In collaboration with Health & Safety, develop and support STERIS’ fleet safety program through data collection/reporting, communication, and change management.
•    In collaboration with finance, prepares fleet budgets, tracks expense performance, evaluates funding mechanisms, and perform lease vs. buy analysis.
•    Provides vehicle data to internal risk management department for annual policy renewal.
•    Evaluates, creates, distributes, and publishes monthly key priority metrics to STERIS senior management, broken down by division and business group, or as directed.
•    Participates in quarterly business reviews in partnership with business unit leadership to provide insight and forward-looking metrics to improve operational performance and provide continuous education on policy and safety.
•    Conducts and leads regular periodic regional global reviews of primary suppliers and drive improvements in service delivery through ongoing measurement against established goals and best in class metrics.
•    Leads and coordinates Europe Fleet Steering Committee meetings to conduct business reviews and facilitate fleet decision making.

Required Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree required. 
•    Minimum 10 years fleet experience including 7 years managing a large fleet and 5 years leading a team. 
•    Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required including selection, training, evaluation, counseling with proven experience performing, developing, and teaching analytics, both financial and research oriented.
•    Expert knowledge in best practices of Fleet management.
•    Working knowledge of DOT requirements.
•    Proven experience in initiative and leadership, a self-starter capable of working with minimal direct supervision.  Proficient in completing assigned responsibilities and projects independently and in teams prioritizing multiple tasks and teams effectively.
•    Experience managing an operating budget in excess of $25M.
•    Possess the ability and prior experience interacting with and influencing individuals at all levels of the organization and outside parties. 
•    Must possess advanced analytical skills and ability to use business tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint at an advanced level and a variety of reporting systems.

 Pay range for this opportunity is $98,750.00 - $148,050.00.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
