The Associate Scientist I will work with the Chemistry team focused on Liquid Chemical and other Systems, carrying out assigned projects, laboratory work and data analysis under the direction of a supervisor.

What You'll do as an Associate Scientist:

  • Responsible for data entry and data review of scientific studies.
  • Performs analysis to support current formulation and new product development.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and/or calibration of instruments utilized for chemical assays.
  • Technical writing using predefined templates for protocols and reports.
  • Resolves issues using problem solving techniques to support project work.
  • Completes assigned tasks with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Individual contributor as part of larger R&D organization.
  • Serves on R&D sub teams.
  • Implements defined approaches to new product development.
  • Assists with design transfer and scale-up activities.
  • Works under general supervision with direct instructions. Carries out routine and semi-routine tasks with some independence.
  • Conducts evaluation using well defined procedures.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook and documents laboratory data accurately and timely.

What You'll do as an Associate Scientist - cont'd:

  • Demonstrates basic understanding of the following:
    • Material compatibility of materials to chemicals
    • Residual analysis
    • Feasibility and exploratory
  • Demonstrates good writing skills for the following:
    • Work instructions and their revisions
    • Test plans/protocols
    • Laboratory reports
    • Out of specification reports
  • Demonstrates oral communication skills:
    • Reporting of laboratory results to supervisor are accurate
    • Give presentations to group(s)
  • Retrieves defined information from scientific literature.
  • Operation and basic troubleshooting of Prototype sterilizers.
  • Team work to meet laboratory quality, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. 

The Experience, Abilities and Skills Needed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Chemistry is preferred.
  • 0-5 years of laboratory experience.
  • Ultrahigh Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC) experience is desirable.
  • Total Organic Carbon experience is desirable.
  • Spectrophotometric Instrumentation experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Maintains a level of technical knowledge consistent with current scientific literature and best practices.
  • Complies with established protocols and within regulatory and laboratory requirements.
  • Understands and complies with accepted laboratory and safety procedures.
  • Independently operates various standard instruments and perform basic maintenance according to established methods.
  • Perform all work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner.
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) experience.
  • Delivers and executes results independently.
