Position Summary

This position supervises staff at the Distribution Center operations ensuring safe, timely, cost-effective receiving, and shipping of finished goods. Ensures high levels of Customer service and satisfaction by coordinating supply chain activities with the Manufacturing, Planning, and Sourcing groups. Maintains appropriate and accurate record keeping and data management systems and is an effective liaison with transportation providers and internal and external Customers. 

 

The Day Shift Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of their team and for providing clear expectations and opportunities for skill development. Delegate and ensure understanding of job duties and responsibilities. Provide a motivating work environment and information on relevant matters including business objectives, company policies and procedures, measure and appraise performance and provide accurate feedback, recommend/approve salary actions/career development,  assist employee(s) in skill/career development, and monitor absences and vacations. 

 

This position actively works on the Distribution floor with the team. Hours: M-F 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM

Duties

• Responsible for receipt of finished goods and shipments to domestic customers and distributors.

• Coordinate activities and provide direction to employees in charge of daily operations.

• Develop and/or maintain the required material handling procedures and work instructions for the department.

• Ensure required daily production requirements are aligned with Customer requirements.

• Maintain and supervise appropriate inventory record keeping. Provide input for warehouse design and logistics.

• Maintain a safe working environment by instructing employees on established safety practices and enforcing practices at all times. Ensure that emergency equipment, electrical panels, and exits are regularly monitored and free from obstructions.

• Responsible for proper operation of equipment, including the training and instruction of operators on equipment use, and the requisitioning of needed equipment maintenance. Ensure equipment is maintained in a clean working order.

• Establish, maintain, and promote positive employee relations, while maintaining productivity, attendance, and general order required for an efficient operation.

• Ensure daily cycle counts are taken and provide Senior Distribution Manager/Director with monthly reports on outcome.

• Work with cross functional groups to ensure traffic between warehouse points and to customers is coordinated and managed optimally.

• In conjunction with STERIS Planning, ensure efficient traffic management feedback to Director regarding performance of carriers.

• Coordinate and lead special projects affecting domestic warehouse operations.

• Maintain 5S/SQDC boards and implement Lean initiatives to improve productivity.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

• In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of 5-10 years of warehouse experience.

• Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience in warehousing, domestic transportation, and shipping/receiving.

• Experience in an FDA controlled facility desirable.

• 2-3 years Lean Warehousing (preferred) Handling,

• Storing, and Shipping hazardous materials (preferred)
