What You'll Do as a Laboratory Technician

• Executes basic laboratory tests such as SCBIs, BI, and sample prep and assist in laboratory startup and closing duties. 
• Operate laboratory equipment such as: steam sterilizers, washer, boilers, etc. 
• Work cross functionally within multiple lab areas or supporting laboratory assistant duties. 
• Complete quality system documentation and traceability of records such as specification sheets, sterilization records, Microsoft Excel logs to track information, and label generation. 
• Supports with media production tasks and duties, as required.
• Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, Safety, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management and performs other duties as assigned. 
   

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to lift and exert force of up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English.

Preferred:

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Laboratory setting.
• Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
• Skill in basic use of a computer to include word processing, spreadsheet and software capabilities. Competent with Microsoft Office products. Ability to navigate through defined computer screens.
• Skill in providing customer service.
• Skill in organizing, prioritizing and managing time.
• Ability to complete and manage documentation. verify information for accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Ability to read and interpret rules, schedules, procedures and instructions.
• Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
• Effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience. Ability to work well with others.
• Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. Ability to work under control in pressure situations and adapt rapidly to change.
• Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.
