Summary

At STERIS, our Repair Specialist Travlers serve as an experienced lead for assigned mobile repair unit or provide support within a local surgical instrument repair lab. Our Travelers repair surgical instruments, provide on the job coaching to local Repair Technicians and ensure daily operations are performed effectively (ie: safety, mobile unit operations and Customer requirements). 

 

This role requires daily travel by driving a company vehicle, such as a 25 foot box or a rental car. If offered this position, STERIS will run a 7 year driving record check, as part of our onboarding process. 

 

Our Repair Specialist Travelers travel up to 75% of the time, all across the US. All expenses paid for by the company. 

This is a safety sensitive position. 

What you will do as a Repair Specialist Traveler

  • You'll partner with local Managers to develop reporting for Customer consultation, as well as identify and escalate risks/issues with accounts. 
  • As a Repair Specialist Traveler, you'll work cross functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, etc. to ensure current and new account implemention is effective.
  • You will have full accountability for coordinating team schedule, travel and operational readiness to meet Customer operational requirements.
  • Deliver accurate and timely administrative reporting and documentation to Customers and management.
  • Adhere and comply with all protocols (DOT, STERIS and Customer), for safe operation of mobile repair labs.
  • Responsible for mentoring less experienced Repair Technicians. 

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED  and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, including a combination of repair, operations, Customer engagement, and leading others.
  • Ability to perform and train repair skills, such as Ultra sonic function, Metallurgy, buff & polish, bend, sharpen, shape, hinge points, serrations & braze, advance Dremel operation, and re-cup & rejaw. Must be able to traslate complex information into insights for Customers. 
  • Must be able to meet flexible schedules with early/late hours, travel up to 75%.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT medical exam and comply with all DOT regulations. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and be at least 21 years old to meet the FMCSA age requirement for commercial interstate driving. 
  • Must be able to be compliant with hospital/Customer credentialing requirements.

Pay range for this opportunity is $50,787 - $65,725. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
