Position Summary

Provides Customer Service/satisfaction via on-site support, training, and communication between staff, physicians, facility leadership and manager, regarding the reprocessing of flexible scopes, accessories, and related items to contracted facilities in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, ANSI, and AORN standards and facilities goals and policies. Provides clinical operations support to customer facility pertaining to contracted management service and assists Endoscopy Operations Manager with daily operations in the Reprocessing Department.

Uses developed skills and practical knowledge to perform scheduled and unscheduled tasks independently. Provides direction to Endoscopy Technicians on workflow to maintain efficient daily operations.

Duties

  1. Responsible for directing and communicating department workflow and scheduling Endo Tech work assignments.
  2. Collaborates with STERIS Endoscopy Operations Manager for scheduling new STERIS employee orientation, on-the-job training, provides assistance to staff when issues arise, in-service education, and STERIS facility quality assurance programs as needed.
  3. Supports daily operations of all activities that relate to the processing and high-level disinfection of flexible scopes.
  4. Assists in providing timely resolution to facility issues or concerns
  5. Refers all decisions beyond personal scope of responsibilities to STERIS leadership.
  6. Initiate repair of broken equipment and communicates low par levels of unit’s consumable supplies.
  7. Communicates to STERIS leadership all non-compliance with regulatory and safety issues.
  8. Identifies and leads process improvement initiatives.
  9. Completes documentation of STERIS Key Performance Indicators.
  10. Coordinates and prioritizes procedural needs to ensure timely delivery of HLD items to Customers or appropriate storage location.

Supports and adheres to STERIS, facility and regulatory policies and procedures.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. 3+ years of sterile processing experience with scope experience, endoscopy, or transferrable experience required. 
  3. Must maintain Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) or Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER).
    1. Must maintain certification(s) by completing Continuing Education Credit Hours (CEU’s) in accordance with renewal schedule.
  4. Satisfactory performance, validation of skill level and ability to lead others in daily tasks and workflow required. Productivity, quality, and attendance must meet company standards.
  5. Must be able to perform all job requirements of an Endoscopy Technician I and II.
  6. Extensive knowledge of scopes, accessories, and related equipment regarding a wide range of various types of flexible scopes. Must be able to assist with training of new employees and/or re-training for specific Standard Operating Procedures.

Preferred Experience

  1. Completion of a Sterile Processing/Surgical Technologist such as Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) preferred.

Awareness of one of the education topics: Microbiology and Infection Control, Endoscope Purpose, Design, and Structure, Endoscope Reprocessing Steps, Endoscope Handling, Transport, and Storage, Endoscope Tracking, Repair, and System Maintenance, Human Factors That Impact Endoscope Systems

Skills

1. Awareness of LEAN concepts and ability to translate this in the work environment preferred.

2. Communicates in a professional manner to all hospital staff, Customers and company employees via all forms of communication.

3. Understands basic technical jargon within Endo department.

4. Broad understanding of instruments and department equipment.

5. Must be a team player and demonstrate flexibility to work in all areas of the department to meet production demands.

6. Basic computer skills and aptitude.

7. Medical instrument knowledge.

8. Ability to work daily in a fast-paced, high pressure Healthcare Service environment.

 Pay range for this opportunity is $26.20 - $36.73.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
