Logistic Specialist

Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordination of freight movement, quotations and basic documentation as required to move cargo domestically and across international borders. This position also resolves day to day transportation issues as they may arise.

The Logistics Specialist is basically the “Customer Service” to both STERIS internal and external Customers as it relates to transportation worldwide. 

Duties

1. Providing transportation quotations (domestic and international).  This includes air, ocean and truck, regardless of urgency (e.g. expedites) and size and weight of shipment(s).
2. Obtain carrier Proof of Delivery documentation for quarter end activity and as requested daily.
3. Obtain Customer consolidation and/or delivery requirements to ensure they are properly set up and communicated to the Transportation Analyst (s) and/or carriers assigned to orders.
4. Monitor shipping performance of warehouses and carriers
5. Obtain quotations from Freight Carriers when required
6. Write new and update current SOP’s and standard work within the department for all standard processes.
7. Prepare and administer quarterly carrier reviews to maintain carrier performance, Identify and   implement opportunities for improvement.

1. Maintain the end-of-quarter delivery report and manage revenue recognition
2. Book shipments with the appropriate carrier and prepare necessary paperwork as it relates to returns (including trade in’s, shipments to charitable organizations and call tag) and vendor drop shipments and update Oracle with the correct shipment information.
3. Troubleshooting related to transportation and delivery of goods to or from STERIS or STERIS supplier/vendor facility
4. Recordkeeping where required
5. Assist the Logistics Management in the evaluation of STERIS Domestic & International Transportation suppliers.
6. Work at the direction of the Logistics Supervisor in the coordination of shipments to Customers
7. Complete special projects as it relates to the above duties or assigned by STERIS.

Education Degree

Required Experience

3 years - 

1. Standard office environment.
2. Position requires sitting for extended periods of time.
3. Flexible scheduling may be required to accommodate customer needs
4. Positive attitude and able to work independently.
5. Ability to problem solving operational issues in a timely manner.
6. Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Proficiency in MS Office suites and Basic IT knowledge in PC / Printer

Preferred Experience

1 year - 

Proficient in incoterms, logistic activities / challenges. Be able to implement cost effective measures such as efficient and cost saving freight forwarders.
