Position Summary

The Account Manager, being both a creative thinker and curious, will be primarily responsible for sales, technical consultation, and lead generation in the Swiss and Austrian territory for STERIS products to the Life Sciences industry. [pharmaceutical, biotech, vaccine, cell gene, medical device, nutraceutical and related industries]. You will be responsible for achieving all revenue, gross margin, and product sales objectives established by the Business Unit. In this role, you will participate in the design and implementation of sales strategies, identify prospects and opportunities, present new concepts and products, call on Customers, and ensure the optimal STERIS experience. Ensuring high customer satisfaction, effectively establishing multi-level relationships with customers, and possessing excellent listening skills is required.  Bottom line- you effectively manage and utilize company provided sales resources to maximize sales outcomes while providing the best solutions to the customer. 

Duties

  • Sell STERIS cleaning, disinfectant and sterility assurance products to pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers. Consult with Customers and evaluate needs in order to recommend, sell and support innovative solutions and ensure Customer satisfaction. Respond to Customer inquiries, troubleshoot issues post-sale and manage and/or support the dealer network as STERIS field technical resource. 
  • Identify and proactively seek out valid sales opportunities and methods to develop new Customers and to build sales with existing Customers. Develop strong long-term business relationships with Customer base. 
  • Communicate Customer requirements and assist in transitioning the sale of services to the appropriate internal cross-functional teams (Customer Service, Marketing and Technical Service). 
  • Evaluate non-routine complaints from Customers and take appropriate action to bring to resolution. 
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales by researching potential product/service areas that may benefit Customers.  Educate Customers on product line and services. 
  • Provide competitor “intelligence” to marketing and operations functions. 
  • Provide timely reporting of activities in order to measure and progress against goals. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry and market trends as well as technical knowledge and understanding of products and services.  Attend educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies. 
  • Represent the company by utilizing accepted business practices providing timely and accurate responses and service-oriented offers of assistance. 

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science Related field, Engineering (both strongly preferred) or Business
  • Demonstrated history of successful sales performance or cGMP industry related experience required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in consultative selling of technical products/services.
  • Knowledge of regulated industries (cGMP, GLP, or similar) 
  • Involvement with PDA, ISPE or similar industry organization
  • Strong understanding of Customer and market dynamics and requirements, with demonstrated ability to expand existing Customer relationships as well as develop new ones 
  • Experience using current CRMs

Skills

  • Languages Swiss/Austrian German required and English -spoken and written fluency required. French would be an advantage.

  • Must have/maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to be granted clearance to travel globally.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as territory requires up to 60%.
