Position Summary
Temporary Position - Maternity Leave Cover
This position will provide dedicated HR consultation, generalist, and recruiting support to our internal customers at STERIS.
The primary responsibilities include providing HR advice and guidance to managers, fostering positive employee relations, recruiting candidates, performance management, compensation and benefits leadership training, and other HR projects for to support the business.
Supporting the Senior HR Manager in Corporate led initiatives and day to day HR activities.
Duties
1. Recruiting
a. Sources, screens and recruits qualified candidates for both all level positions, up to and including Director level positions.
b. Review resumes, conduct phone screens, and evaluate applications for job fit – using work history, education and training, salary desired, and other skills and abilities to determine qualification for employment.
c. Creates and implements process improvements, selection tools and best in class practices to improve the recruitment process (measures include time to fill, cost to hire, quality of hires, and retention rates).
d. Works closely with Hiring Managers and provides input and guidance as they make hiring decisions. Provides relevant training, coaching, and tools to improve the recruiting process. Coaches managers on hiring trends, utilizing input from candidates and exit interviews.
e. Facilitates the job requisition process to improve efficiency in time to fill. Manages the status of job requisitions for groups. Facilitates the approval process and takes proactive measures to improve time to fill. Creates and distributes weekly recruiting reports.
f. Builds and maintains a pipeline of high potential candidates. Leverages various resources and relationships to source qualified candidates. Uses the Internet, Community based organizations, print media, employee referral program, and formal/informal networks, to creatively market STERIS and source a diverse candidate pool.
g. Provide leadership in recruiting related special assignments including but not limited to Internet advertising, vendor selection for recruiting services, and job fair participation.
h. Create standard and ad hoc reports as needed to demonstrate recruiting effectiveness, turnover or performance improvement progress. Develop new reporting as needed.

2. Employee Relations/Performance Management
a. Provides managers with consultation and support with Performance Management activities. Guides managers as they handle performance issues, specifically in the areas of performance improvement plans, writing and delivering effective performance reviews, creating development plans, and compensation decisions.
b. Responsible for resolving employee relations issues, working with managers and Sr. HR Manager. As a HR Business Partner, will be primary point of contact for employees and managers in assigned areas. Provides guidance, conducts investigations, recommends solutions, and analyzes trends.
c. Applies and interprets policies and procedures to basic and complex employment issues. Ensures compliance to EU Directives and Irish Employment Law. May recommend changes to policies and procedures based on business trends.
d. Provides guidance to managers regarding disciplinary actions, terminations, and handling serious policy violations.
e. Performs exit interviews. Analyze trends and provide summary reports to management.

3. Provide support and/or leadership on HR Project teams / Reporting
a. Provide support to the corporate HR team. This could include projects assigned by VP HR, Director HR, or working on cross functional project teams.
b. Conduct HR related research and assist with HR strategic plan preparation.
c. Serve as project lead or participant, and champion employee related initiatives as assigned.
4. Learning and Development
a. Conduct internal training for New Hire Orientation, interviewing skills, performance management and coaching, development planning, and other HR related topics as needed. Provide one on one coaching and career development counsel to managers and employees. Help employees with development planning and goal setting.
Education Degree
- Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
- 5-7 years recruitment experience in a professional, fast paced environment. Experience must include non-exempt, college, and exempt/professional level recruitment. One to three years of high volume recruiting experience preferred.
- 5-7 years of employee relations experience. Knowledge of employment law, affirmative action plans, performance management practices and disciplinary action processes. Must have experience working with Irish employment law.
- 3 years leading training initiatives as well as HR Projects
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook. Applicant tracking and HRIS systems experience preferred.
- A high attention detail is required for this role.
- The Ideal candidate must be CIPD qualified or studying for this qualification
