Summary

STERIS Japan is seeking a Clinical Education Manager to lead clinical education and application support across our Procedural GI and GI Reprocessing portfolio. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of clinical practice, education, and advanced medical technology, supporting both capital equipment and consumables.

 

You will drive the development and execution of clinical education strategies, bridge the gap between product technology and clinical practice, deliver high-quality education to external Customers (physicians, nurses, hospital staffs, distributors) and internal teams, ensuring safe, effective product adoption and enhance Customer satisfaction. Working closely with KOLs, clinical associations, and internal commercial teams, you will play a critical role in expanding the portfolio, strengthening market presence, and translating innovation into real-world clinical value.

What You Will Do

Education Strategy & Program Development

  • Develop annual clinical education plans aligned with Japan’s market needs, business objectives, and clinical trends in endoscopy and instrument reprocessing.
  • Design comprehensive curriculum covering endoscopic device operation, endo reprocessing, safety compliance, and clinical application best practices.
  • Create multi-format educational materials (training manuals, video tutorials, hands-on guides, e-learning modules) tailored to Japanese healthcare professionals, ensuring alignment with local regulations (e.g., PMDA) and industry standards.

Training Delivery & Execution

  • Conduct on-site/offline/online training sessions, workshops, and wet lab demonstrations for hospitals, clinics, and distributor teams across Japan, focusing on GI usage and reprocessing protocols.
  • Provide specialized training on product features, troubleshooting, and reprocessing efficiency optimization to support clinical workflow improvement.
  • Deliver internal training for sales, marketing, and field service teams to enhance their clinical knowledge and product expertise, enabling effective customer communication.
  • Manage in-service training activities throughout the sales funnel, including customer new product adoption, customer trial/evaluation, and refresher courses, ensuring customers are competently trained and familiar with product application.
  • Monitor training outcomes, conduct competency assessments, and maintain detailed training records to ensure accountability and quality.

Stakeholder Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in Japan’s endoscopy and infection control fields, collaborating on educational initiatives and clinical validation.
  • Partner with hospital training centers, medical associations, and industry bodies to co-host academic events and continuing education programs.
  • Collect and analyze customer feedback on training effectiveness and clinical needs, providing insights to product development and marketing teams for continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for relationship building with physician key opinion leaders, infection prevention societies, their subsidiary organizations, and distribution sales teams in Japan, in support of the STERIS procedural and reprocessing business portfolio and branding throughout Japan.

Standard Engagement

  • Stay updated on the latest clinical advancements, reprocessing guidelines, and regulatory changes in Japan to keep education content current and accurate. Proactively participate in multiple local standards committees to contribute to standard revisions aligned with the latest technology, industry trends, and best clinical practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support product launches, key account development, and clinical demonstration activities.
  • Work with product management teams to translate technical product information into accessible clinical education content.
  • Coordinate with regional and global clinical education teams to share best practices and align educational strategies.
  • Support the sales team and distributors in new lead acquisition through application- and education-focused approaches.
  • Provide standby support in procedure rooms for endoscopy procedures and reprocessing accessories.
  • Identify and support business and new product market development opportunities in Japan.
  • Support clinical trade shows, seminars, and workshops; leverage KOL relationships; position STERIS Infection Prevention Technology (IPT) products for inclusion in webinars; and solicit feedback on ideas.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

  • Bachelor’s Degree in medical-related disciplines
  • Significant years of progressive experience in the Healthcare market, preferably in GI Endoscopy device and reprocessing domain.
  • Adequate years of marketing and/or clinical management responsibility as well as strategic portfolio management.
  • Prior experience in a multi-national firm preferred. 
  • Adequate years of budgeting, financial analysis, forecasting required.
  • High integrity and professional ethics. Excellent skills in negotiation, planning, organization, communication, coordination, problem solving and team spirit.
  • Outstanding project management and time management skills.
  • Business-level English Language proficiency is required.
  • Good experience in customer & KOL development and management. Strong networks and client relationship.
