Position Summary

Provide preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration and installation support on various mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic PLC controlled units installed in STERIS Life Sciences Customer accounts throughout Ireland.


Interact with our Customers on a daily basis and complete associated administrative tasks as required.


  1. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required on STERIS Life Sciences and related product lines.  This includes electro-mechanical disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; reassembling as required; troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating ready for use by using standard and specialized tools by using technical manuals, etc.
  1. Troubleshoot, repair or refurbish standard and special purpose equipment and systems components.
  2. Perform administrative duties as assigned to ensure effective planning, utilization, and required paperwork completion.  This includes, but is not limited to communicating schedule changes to the Customer Operations Department daily; computer synchronization daily; complete service reports and activities within two business days after completing a customer visit, maintain on-site Customer Service Logs/Total Maintenance Care books according to STERIS Life Sciences procedures; and maintain tools and parts inventory to prescribed levels as required by Service Manager
  3. Develop and maintain effective, communicative relationships with customers, managers.  Communicate activities to customers include scheduling of Preventive Maintenance and estimated time of arrival for unscheduled work.  Utilize provided product and industry knowledge to assure customer’s expectations of service are exceeded.
  4. Respond to routine customer and sales questions regarding equipment operation and performance or direct questions straight to more experienced colleagues.

  1. Maintains courteous, smart and professional demeanor when working with customers, contractors, management and colleagues. Utilize customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities. Follows all STERIS Life Sciences and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.
  2. Learn about STERIS Life Sciences solutions for our customers to enhance sales and growth in the field and pass on leads to management and sales where possible. Closely network with all FSR II and FSR III in the team.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Associate's Degree

Required Experience

  1. Strong background in electromechanical /electronic principals including PLC control, ideally Trades qualified or Diploma/Degree level. Relevant experience also considered as full training will be provided.
  2. Full Irish driving licence is essential.
  3. Ability to demonstrate a proven track record in servicing and maintaining electro-mechanical PLC controlled systems and products as well as strong technical diagnostic skills. Work is 70% Mechanical v 30% Electrical/Control
  4. Good communication and organisational skills are essential as is the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
  5. A positive, flexible and results orientated approach
  6. Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate good decision qualities
