Position Summary
As a Project Manager (PM) you are responsible for managing multiple projects in the Equipment and Technology (E&T) product and service portfolio, including capital equipment orders, service and support requirements, installation, software, research and development, and any other offerings. In this role you will be accountable for delivery of E&T products and services on scope, on time, and on budget. You will serve as the liaison between the customer, the business, and the operations/engineering teams assigned to each project or service. You will play a critical role in linking the quote to cash process by ensuring that designs meet quality, Customer, specification, and industry standards as per the contract terms. Planning, monitoring, scheduling, and coordinating project work, including resource and asset prioritization to ensure deadlines are met, and challenges are overcome, are essential components of this role. As a Project Manager you must communicate expectations to the project team and hold them accountable for their work. You will also be responsible for reporting out status and success metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
This role requires in-person or onsite work 5 days per week at our Stitsville, ON location.
What You'll do as a Project Manager
Project Management Post Order (70%)
- Ensure STERIS accepted Customer specifications and/or purchase orders are properly executed, and ensure effective communication and transfer of responsibilities that drive the project workflow.
- Manage multiple projects through the project life cycle, including project scope, goals, plans, budgets, resources, milestones, and delivery of outcomes while mitigating risks and acting tactically to resolve unforeseen issues.
- Track key project milestones, requirements, and deliverables to ensure all are completed within the timeframe established; manage the team roadmap and prioritizes team activities.
- Create, maintain, and support adherence to schedules.
- Communicate key developments, updates, and problems to teams.
- Monitor project quality, technical performance, and delivery metrics.
- Work closely with the design team to resolve blocking issues quickly.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to set commercial priorities and focus.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely correction of all project deviations, warranty claims, and act as the Customer voice.
- Responsible for project closure and verification of all items required to successfully close all tasks.
- Contribute in a team effort by performing in accordance to all STERIS policies, GMP, lean principles and other directives.
- Support the directives and decisions of leadership and performs other duties as assigned.
Customer Relationships (15%)
- Key point of contact for Customer during project lifecycle.
- Communicate regularly with the Customer to define project scope and goals, ensure the design meets all specifications before moving on to the build process, clarify customizations, and review milestones.
- May be required to work with sales to provide details on scope before the build process.
- Liaise between Customer and all stakeholders involved in the project.
- Responsible for communication and scheduling, working with Customer to ensure Customer scope remains on track for delivery targets.
- Support Customer requests regarding regulatory requirements and equipment standards.
- Collect all voice of Customer data and drives the lessons learned process for each project in their portfolio.
- Strive for best-in-class project delivery and Customer satisfaction.
Marketing /Field Intelligence & Strategic Initiatives (10%)
- Provide feedback to commercial and product marketing teams on future potential product offerings, opportunities, or improvements.
- Provide feedback on manufacturing, quality, documentation, and engineering issues as communicated by Customers and ensures timely corrective actions internally.
- Collaborate cross functionally to communicate intelligence and information gathered during the project lifecycle.
Administrative Management (5%)
- Work with leadership to define standardization of policies, procedures, file format, technology use, etc. and reenforce use across all workstreams.
- Generate new procedures and standardized methods/workflows to continuously improve business operations.
- Collect and file all relevant project data and ensures all relevant information as defined by standard format are filed in designated locations.
- Work with leadership to keep project plans, schedules, and forecast accurate and up to date.
- Contribute to commercial initiatives as required including project reporting, scorecards, products, and industry trends.
- Other reports as required by STERIS (expense, car mileage, safety, etc.)
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (Engineering or Technical discipline preferred).
- Minimum 5 years' industry experience working with capital equipment applications in medical device or sterlization industry or related field.
- Minimum 13 years' industry experience accepted in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
Preferred:
- Experience with commerical or customer account management preferred.
- Certified project manager PMP or other preferred.
- Supervisory or management experience preferred.
Other:
- Strong communication and presentation skills with Customers and colleagues.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, CAD/Autodesk).
- Pre and post order management of multiple capital equipment projects.
- Technical Knowledge – competency in engineering practices and has technical expertise with ability to train others on STERIS E&T product solutions.
- Relationship Management - Builds constructive and effective relationships cross-functionally internally and externally and maintains them over time.
- Communication – Communicates effectively and efficiently with internal and external Customers. Ability to provide effective written and oral communication in large and small groups. Ability to listen and adjust approach based on specific situations.
