Position Summary
The Field Service Technician II is responsible for frontline customer support, using technical ability to perform or assist in preventative and corrective maintenance, either on-site or remotely, using various tools, technology, tests, and procedures. This is a customer facing role that requires excellent communication skills to troubleshoot and work through complex issues on highly specialized technology and equipment.
*This position is under our AST segment.
*This position will require international travel to deliver on-site services, support, major project installation, and other various duties is required.
What you'll do as a Field Service Technician II
- Contributes to a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management. Performs duties in accordance with target metrics and KPIs as defined by senior leadership.
- Attends continuous training to maintain quality of work and improve skills. Demonstrates leadership skills and leads by example. Contributes to the training and development of field service technicians, and other groups as required.
- Maintains compliance to all regulatory requirements in local jurisdictions where work is performed.
- Utilizes collaborative service tools and systems.
- Gathers diagnostic information and performs initial analyses.
- Uses technology to diagnose errors or technical problems and works with Customer to implement solutions remotely.
- Uses engineering drawings and documentation to identify problems, address customer issues, and execute solutions. Participates in Customer machine installations. Develops and shares Customer site data in support of reliability and technical advances.
- Assembles and installs complex equipment, participates in major projects as an experienced resource, and performs service and installation related tasks. Performs routine preventative maintenance visits and deploys upgrades. Can perform these tasks independently or with little oversight.
- Responds to customer support calls and resolves complex issues in accordance with STERIS Customer service and quality metrics. Responds to Customer support requests and ensures a timely resolution. Uses technology to diagnose errors or technical problems and works with Customer to implement solutions remotely.
- Uses digital scopes to assess problem.
- Runs dosimetry tests.
- Uses various modes of communication to gather information from diverse Customers (i.e., culture, language, technical aptitude) regarding the technical problem or error (i.e., actively listens, reads electronic mail, asks questions in written or verbal format, looks at Customer photographs or drawings, provides photographs or drawings).
- Builds and fosters relationships with customers, communicates feedback to leadership, and ensures quality execution of all value-added services. Identifies and communicates potential business opportunities as observed and discussed with a global customer base.
- Documents service and produces timely and detailed service reports, including what work was completed, what parts need to be sent, next steps and final resolution status. All other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Associate's degree or College Diploma, and 2 years of relevant experience (Relevant experience includes:
- Electro-mechanical, mechanical, millwright, robotics and automation, PLC/software development
- Ability to obtain a passport
- Ability to travel internationally
Preferred:
- Experience with conveyors or product delivery systems
- Experience in a leadership role
- Experience in a project management role with a focus on electrical, mechanical, or highly technical projects
