Utility Worker (2pm-10:30am)

Position Summary:
Based at the chemical manufacturing site, the Utility Worker is responsible for keeping all common areas clean, tidy, and safe. This may include light facilities work, material handling, and general cleaning duties.
Schedule: 2pm - 10:30pm (Monday - Friday)

Location: 7501 Page Ave St. Louis, MO
Pay: $19.08 + $0.75 shift differential (bi-weekly)
Hire Type: Full Time - Direct Hire
What You Will Do:
- Performs the work associated with maintaining a clean, safe and attractive work environment. This includes but is not limited to:
- aisle ways
- stairways
- lavatories
- lunchroom
- general manufacturing areas
- plant office floors
- parking lots
- stairways
*this includes sweeping and shoveling snow/ice
- Waste containers must be emptied daily and returned to the designated areas.
- Use cleaning equipment as directed.
- Remove accumulated hazardous wastes from laboratory and other areas.
- Transport hazardous waste to the hazardous waste storage area.
- Clean up of chemical spills and blood borne pathogens.
- Operates forklift trucks and other material handling equipment for the loading and unloading of railroad cars and trucks as needed.
- Deliver proper material on time to the various areas of the manufacturing processes (EX: For example, case packing, labeling and bottle dumping)
- Count and verify by proper item and lot number, all materials during palletization, loading and unloading and stores all materials in the proper place.
- Assemble, weigh and stage raw materials and packaging components needed for production and maintains proper documentation.
- Occasionally perform proper palletization of finished or unfinished products and storing them in the proper place as designated.
- Refuel and recharge material handling equipment and responsible for the daily maintenance such as cleaning the equipment, checking the oil, water, battery and lubrication of the equipment.
- Exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating moving equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.
- Maintain written and/or electronic records as required by management (i.e. cGMP or ISO procedures).
- Keep equipment and surrounding work area clean at all times.
- Move and load hazardous wastes, as directed by the supervisor.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor including a combination of Janitor and Forklift duties, bottle dump, case pack, label, sprayers.
Experience, Skills, & Abilities:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals. Basic math, writing and data entry skills.
- Ability to operate or to be trained to operate a forklift truck.
- Basic Math N& Data Entry skills.
- Ability to appropriately handle cleaning equipment, hazardous waste materials removal and storage, palletizer, snow removal tools and equipment and other necessary functions related to the job.
- Compentencies:
- May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds.
- May be expected to climb heights of approximately 18feet.
- Stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to walk.
- Ability to read scales.
- Manual dexterity and good peripheral vision required.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, as required.
- Ability to access all parts of all production equipment, including, but not limited to the following:
- confined spaces; ceiling mounted equipment; equipment in pits, machines that must be climbed, crawled under or otherwise entered with limited access.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
Preferred:
- Previous forklift expereience.
- Ability to take initiative and prioritize work.
- Previous Industrial Janatorial expereince.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to use guidelines and pivot quickly for urgent needs.
- Previous expereince working with chemicals and safety/PPE equipment.

- Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronic formats.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to organize and maintain organization.

Pay rate for this opportunity is $19.08. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
