Position Summary

STERIS is a growing, dynamic organization that helps our customers create a safer and healthier world. We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Supervisor in St. Louis, MO to join us in our mission.

The Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of laboratory quality control within the organization including receiving, in-process, finished goods testing, scheduling resources, defining solutions to improve compliance, and provide key input to senior management on compliance in accordance with the requirements for ISO, FDA QSR, and STERIS policies. You will also lead, manage and train a team of about fifteen quality control technicians and specialists within the lab. 

What you will do
  • You will supervise laboratory activities to ensure all products are tested in accordance with company policy and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Your team will support new product development projects and you will complete all tasks related to the laboratory.
  • The supervisor also serves as a contact point for outside vendors, consultants and auditors.
  • You will assist with developing test methodologies and processes and trainsLab Techs and Specialists.
  • This person will work with Quality Systems on internal and external audits and audit training.
  • And assist with developing and validating methods 
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (highly preferred), Biology, Microbiology or other related discipline
  • Minimum eight (8) years relevant lab testing in a regulated industry (i.e. FDA/ISO13485) required in addition to two (2) years of supervisory / leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of standard quality tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis), Root Cause Analysis, and Statistics.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Experience providing recommendations on improvements to test methods and procedures
  • Ability to make decisions on experimental steps and data analysis within defined parameters and guidelines.
  • Experience recognizing and communicating unexpected experimental results to the supervisor, interpreting data with minimal direction, participating in defining next step with supervisor, and retrieve information from scientific literature
