Position Summary:

The Filling and Packaging Operator II is responsible for more advanced setup and operation of liquid filling and packaging lines, including troubleshooting and performing complex mechanical adjustments. They ensure compliance with quality standards, maintain detailed production records, and assist in training new operators.

What You Will Do as a Filling & Packaging Operator II:

•    Daily set up and operation of the complete filling and packaging line.
•    Including bottle in-feed, unscrambler, labeler, bottle filler, bottle capper or plugger, cap torquer, Videojet code dater, check weigher, bar coder, case sealer, & other equipment and conveyors associated with the line.
•    Manage the needs of packaging supplies or other materials for the packaging line through appropriate channels.
•    Manage hookups and operation of control panels which control the flow of materials to the packaging line.
•    Meet production schedules as outlined by supervision and keep written records.
•    Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor, training of new Operators.
•    Set up all filling line equipment and partner with maintenance on small repairs as needed.
•    Palletization of finished or unfinished products and proper storage.
•    Ability to exercise extreme caution to protect material or property while operating moving equipment.
•    Exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees.
•    Ensure proper technique when filling, weighing, capping, sealing, casing, labeling, and coding of all products, including powders, liquids, solids, creams, lotions, and pastes.
•    Responsible for setup and adjustment of equipment when changing over various size containers on the filling lines.
•    Adjusting weights for various size containers on the filling lines as needed.
•    Responsible for turning in a written/electronic record of daily production along with other appropriate documentation as required by management.
o    IE: cGMP and ISO procedures
•    Keep equipment and surrounding work area clean at all times.
•    Responsible for marking containers of hazardous waste clearly.
•    Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either 

Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:
•    High School Graduate or equivalent.
•    Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals.
•    Basic math, measuring/weighing, writing and data entry skills.
•    Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Preferred:
•    3+ years of experience working with liquid filling machinery, pumps, valves, piping and cGMPs desirable.
•    Previous experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment.
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with coworkers and other departments.
•    Experience working with: automatic liquid filling machines, pumps, filters, scales, sealer, capper, valves, cap torquer, hoses, videojet coding equipment.
•    Ability to monitor components to the line during work hours and change over.
•    Computer literacy.
•    Strong knowledge of cGMP and ISO procedures.

Other:
•    May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 60 pounds.
•    Climb heights of approximately 10 feet. Stand for long periods of time.
•    Acceptable hand/eye coordination.
•    Acceptable peripheral vision, manual dexterity, able to read scales, and dials and gauges.
•    Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
•    Equipment listed below may be used as needed to assist in these Required Competencies:
•    Automatic liquid filling machine, pumps, filters, scales, sealer, capper, valves, cap torquer, hoses, videojet coding equipment, monitoring components to the line, monitoring all liquid filling line equipment, making hook ups from different lines, routine mechanical adjustments to filling line equipment and during line change over.
