Position Description

Under close direction of supervising scientist or manager, completes assigned laboratory studies/tasks which include:
- Accurate and thorough recording of raw data.
- Mathematical analysis and data compilation.
- Discussion of results.

Essential Job Functions

1. Conducts laboratory experiments under direction of supervisor.
2. Possess basic laboratory skills including the following:

  • Preparation of reagents.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment (i.e. incubators, water baths, spectrophotometers, pH meters and other optical instruments)
  • Skills specific to area of assignment. For example:
  • Microbiology - methodologies including aseptic technique when culturing, plating, and handling, microorganisms isolation, plate counting, and gram stains.
  •  Ability to read and interpret SDS files and handle organic and inorganic chemicals.
  •  Thorough and accurate documentation of raw data
  • Adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).

3. Maintains the Research Notebook information on activities undertaken, existing conditions and observed results.
4. Analyzes and compiles data. Provides interpretation of data under the supervisor’s guidance.
5. Recognizes and communicates unexpected results in a timely manner.

6. Drafts and completes protocols and reports under the supervisor’s guidance.
7. Retrieves information from scientific literature.
8. Serves as member of project sub-teams.
9. Maintains a level of technical knowledge and understanding in the assigned area of responsibility that is consistent with the current scientific literature.
10. Complies with established procedures and within regulatory and laboratory requirements.
11. Writes and revises standard operating procedures (SOPs) under supervisor’s direction.
12. Understands and complies with accepted laboratory and safety procedures.
13. Takes initiative to identify and recommend potential improvements.
14. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Requires 0-5 years of related laboratory experience.

Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment.

Preferred Experience

Bachelor degree in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology is preferred.

Working Conditions

Travel up to 10%
