Position Summary
The Senior HR Manager partners with managers and employees to provide human resources support and solutions. This position will manage a team to partner with leadership supporting multiple AST Operations facilities. They will support all associates and leaders through talent management, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, reporting/analytics, and championing HR initiatives. This role can be located in one of the following locations: South Plainfield, NJ., Whippany, NJ., or Chester, NY. and will require a hybrid schedule of 4 days in office as well as quarterly travel to other regional locations in OH, PA, SC, and MA (approximately 30% travel).
What You'll do as a Senior HR Manager
- Reporting to a HR Director and working with HR and leadership team supporting our AST Operations groups.
- Serve as a senior HR partner to assigned Operations groups supporting all associates and leaders through talent management, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, reporting/analytics, and championing HR initiatives. This includes identifying opportunities and positively influencing leadership culture—true “needle moving” HR work.
- Advise leadership on all Human Resources issues and initiatives impacting the organization's business goals and objectives.
- Drive performance management initiatives including training members of the leadership team across the business.
- Partner with business leaders to increase employee engagement through innovative and unique solutions for a distributed team.
- Act as a coach to managers on employee performance, talent development, employee relations issues and other people management priorities.
- In conjunction with our business partners, develop communication and change initiatives to align associates with the business goals and objectives and to address employee concerns.
- Develop and manage talent acquisition/ retention programs, work force planning initiatives, and facilitate the business unit succession planning processes.
- In conjunction with Corporate HR resources, ensure compensation and benefits programs are in place and managed to support established goals and objectives. Leads the development of organizational assessment initiatives to ensure effective structure and processes are in place.
- Provide leadership to establish a high-performance team-based culture with emphasis on diversity.
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure performance metrics and performance guidance processes are in place.
- Provide support to the management team for developing talent management strategy around talent assessment, succession planning, coaching and development.
- Ensure compliance with all employment laws/regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, major in Human Resources Management, psychology, business, or other related field. Master’s degree, a plus.
- 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience in a variety of HR areas including talent acquisition, talent management, talent development, succession planning, training, employee relations, organizational development and design, and other aspects of HR service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience leading an HR function for a department or business segment.
- Demonstrated ability to invest effort, find success, work independently, and work in high performing/highly paced teams.
- Able to provide HR support, proactive partnering with HR leaders, build innovative ideas & passionately take care of our associates and managers
- Proven experience as HR Business Partner with a history of working with senior leaders at a manager level and above.
- Exceptional coaching and counseling at all levels, performance management and recruiting.
- Experience delivering training and communication programs, and making presentations to senior management
- Experience with job evaluations and preparation of job descriptions. Understanding of employment law and diversity/EEOC compliance and promotion. Excellent communicator both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively lead through change and improvement initiatives. Demonstrates integrity and maintains confidentiality.
- Critical thought process and systems thinking analysis/ problem solving, planning and decision-making.
- Travel, up to 30%

Pay range for this opportunity is $114,500.00 - $155,000/year. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Part-time employees working 20 or more hours receive a pro-ration of the full-time PTO allocation and paid Holidays based on their standard hourly work week. Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
