Position Summary

The Planning and Project Design Manager is primarily responsible for coordinating Healthcare resources to win more, and a larger share of, healthcare project business in Asia region. This is done by serving as a consultant to hospitals and systems undergoing construction and/or renovation, ensuring positioning of STERIS’s products and services to maximize the specific Customer goals and address both short-term and long-term needs. To review and prepare drawings and other documents related to planning and project activities. Responsible for accuracy, appearance and quality of work. To serve as the key “hub” for the coordination of Healthcare resources through project management, ongoing communication, and training as required. To develop and maintain relationships with the entire healthcare field team, equipment planners, architects, consultants and engineers.


Serve Customers/ASIA Dealers as a STERIS Project Consultant

  • Identifies Customers’ needs, coordinates resources, and follows up to ensure conceptual design and space planning and technical requirements are met
  • Prepares or revises sketches, detailed drawings and other documents depicting STERIS planning recommendations using equipment specifications, drawings and related material.
  • Prepares dimensioned equipment location, electrical and mechanical drawings identifying equipment positions, clearances and services using Autodesk AutoCAD and REVIT Software.
  • Meets Customers’ needs while growing and expanding the scope of project business through additional applications, products and services, all of which provide a better Customer outcome.
  • Coordinates resources and follows up to ensure deadlines are met and each project comes to a successful completion.
  • Help with sizing of CSSD through use of capacity assessment tools and workflow knowledge.

Project Management

  • Prospects and pursues new projects at an early stage and ability to follow up.
  • Serves as a project coordinator for each project, keeping everyone (Sales and installation teams and Customers/Dealers) up to date on project needs, programs etc…
  • Works with all internal/external Customers/Dealers; viewed as the total resource, serving as project coordinator up to the installation stage.
  • Effectively communicates project status and time frames, Customer expectations and competitive stance to all members of the team on an ongoing basis.
  • Serves as technical consultant: internally for Business Development Managers Infection Prevention and Surgical / Dealers; externally for architectural community, consultants, planners, contractors, investors, Customers and owners.

Coordinates STERIS’s Activities and Resources on Projects

  • Provides guidance and support on site visit as needed to secure project business.
  • Provides training and help STERIS sales teams to get a better ORI knowledge and how to
  • Educates/trains Business Development Managers on project life cycles, key milestones, software project applications and how to leverage available resources to provide a comprehensive overview of the total STERIS offering.  
  • Presents STERIS solutions to architects, planners, dealers and customers to improve Operating Room workflows, Central Sterile Supply Department workflows, patient workflows and instruments workflows.

Develop Professional Community Relationships

  • Conducts classes and training seminars, educating the professional community and serving in a consultative and supportive role.
  • Builds future project business through active involvement and establishing relationships with architects, consultants and equipment planners, hospital biomedical engineers, head of hospitals­­

Marketing/Field Intelligence

  • Provides feedback to marketing on new product launches based on Customer input
  • Keeps updated on Customer needs by interfacing with 3rd party companies to identify trends and understand the competitive influences and offerings
  • Provides feedback to marketing on future potential offerings/opportunitie

Administrative Management

  • Follows STERIS Corporate established planning standards, works closely with HQ planning team for consistency in planning documents.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with experience in large scale project management
  • Minimum 8 years of documented successful Healthcare experience, CSSD and Surgical product knowledge preferred with digital OR experience / integration.
  • Experience working with Autodesk AutoCAD software 
  • Experience doing space planning and workflow / 3D drafting is preferred
  • Sales experience / exposure desired 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities (especially related to architectural design layouts)
  • Strong negotiation skills. Must be able to improvise in Customer situations to a successful resolution
  • Good knowledge of ISO, HBN13 and AAMI, standards and building codes is preferred
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and prioritize effectively
  • Always demonstrate a “can do” attitude.


Work Location: Singapore. About 30% travel is required
