Position Summary


The Director, Finance APAC, is responsible for leading and directing the accounting functions, local statutory financial, corporate tax and indirect tax reporting functions, and transaction processing functions – payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections functions. This oversight includes functions in APAC central offices, local country sites or outsourced to 3rd party service providers.


Significant interaction with local operations leaders in support and execution of business strategies.


The scope of these functions includes maintaining compliance with the Company’s global SOX program, FCPA compliance, and other initiatives related to improving internal controls. This position will also participate in and direct resources with regard to due diligence related to acquisitions and significant expansion or investment proposals as well as managing subsequent integration of targets acquired in the subject region.


This position interacts with all corporate departments and business units within the Company, with internal and external auditors, corporate compliance, inside and outside legal counsel, government agencies, external business partners, such as banks, dealers and vendors.




Responsible for various activities relative to Corporate Accounting, Statutory Financial Reporting, SOX and Internal Controls, and transaction processing including:


  1. Direct supervision of the 5 managers across the region and any external resources required to support the business area.
  2. Oversee the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process for accounting.
  3. Ensure timely and complete implementation of global accounting/finance policies and procedures. Review and stay compliant with US GAAP, IFRS, and local statutory technical accounting guidance.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with documented policies, procedures and internal controls relative to all general accounting processes and practices including but not limited to financial statement close, account reconciliations, accruals and estimates, intercompany accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and fixed asset accounting.
  5. Propose changes to Oracle configurations impacting accounting areas to ensure accurate accounting and data availability for appropriate management and legal entity reporting.
  6. In cooperation with Director, Financial Systems, assist in planning and supporting all financial system conversions and upgrades as required for the subject region.
  7. Direct all activity that supports the integration efforts of the Company with regard to any acquisitions or expansions in subject region, primarily focusing on the financial processes and systems and ensuring that the impact of all integration decisions on financial information reporting is considered and managed.
  8. Coordinate with Corporate finance personnel to ensure global consistency in the application of policies, procedures and internal controls in the gathering of data and processing of transactions.
  9. Coordinate with Director of Financial Planning and Analysis and Business Unit Controllers to ensure accurate management reporting for operational management decision support.
  10. Manage the external audit process and direct the company’s response to requests by both internal and external auditors in relation to accounting issues.
  11. Manage the tax compliance processes with support from Corporate tax and external resources to ensure timely compliance.
  12. Review all statutory financial filings across the region.
  13. Manages APAC treasury processes, providing recommendations to Corporate Treasury regarding banking activities, including opening and closing bank accounts and banking relationships. Provide oversight on the implementation and ongoing management of any Treasury projects including cash management and cash pooling.
  14. Coordinate with Corporate legal to ensure legal entity statutory documents are filed with the local authorities on a timely basis.
  15. Assist other support functions such as IT, HR and facilities management as “feet on the ground” where local resources do not exist.
  16. Maintain strong relationships across all functions in the organization and operate as the Finance liaison for all acquisition integration related projects in the subject region.
  17. Identify, develop and execute plans to enhance efficiency, accuracy and centralization of processes in assigned areas.

Percentage of Time Spent

50% - Direct recurring functions of accounting and transaction processing functions including internal control and statutory compliance.

40% - Identify and lead process improvement initiatives and manage special projects across Corporate Finance, including information systems projects, acquisitions and expansions.

10% - Treasury function related activities relative to APAC banking services and relationships.

Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance
Required Experience

Job Requirements

Minimum Bachelor Degree and Professional Certification - CPA is preferred.

15+ years of relevant job experience at a management level in accounting.

Three years or more years (training years) with public accounting firm. CPA, Chartered accountant certification or equivalent, preferred.

Experience with publicly traded company in an international environment a must, preferably a U.S. registrant. 
Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.


Requires the ability to work in a dynamic, high-growth environment at a fast pace.

Must possess strong managerial, organizational, communication, research and problem solving skills.

Extensive computer experience required, experience with Oracle is a plus.

Employee must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting theories and practices.

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate technical issues to all levels of Management

Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing tasks must be shown.

Proven ability to develop plans and manage special projects.
