Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Enterprise Application and Database Administration will assess enterprise application and database administration needs, resources projects, oversees 24x7 operations in a mission-critical environment, and drives organizational development in order to exceed the demands of a rapidly growing and diverse portfolio of enterprise application and database platforms. Working in the capacity of a full-time team manager, you will perform as a technical leader to organize architects, engineers, and operational staff around the development and support of Oracle EBS, Siebel, SAP, Product Lifecycle Management platforms, among others. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to understand the business strategy and related impact to the technology landscape in scope and organize the application and database administration function in a way that successfully addresses competing project demands, application and database availability requirements, and the integration of acquisitions in a way that minimizes business disruptions and maintains continuity. Prior experience as a DBA as well as managing a team of DBAs is critical to the success of this role.
*This role is located onsite in Mentor, Ohio. There will be eligibility for a hybrid work schedule.
Duties
• Creates organizational structure and managers team to meet/exceed the demands of a highly available Production application and database environment that services multiple geographic regions and time zones
• Leads strategic discussions and guides team architects and engineers to build a roadmap of functional needs and technology evolution that successfully addresses the STERIS business strategy and rapid integration of company acquisitions. Identifies inflection points for process and technology enhancements that better serve the business. Evaluates vendors/products and make acquisition recommendations to IT leadership. Creates implementation and support plans related to any new technology acquisition
• Works with Development leadership to coordinate the design and build new structures to support application enhancements and promote database changes throughout the Dev, Test, and Production database lifecycle
• Meets the demanding schedule of changing project priorities and production needs by working closely with team members to redirect efforts where required. Able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
• Serves as the primary contact and liaison for critical application and database resolutions.
• Reduces complexity of multiple administrative and monitoring toolsets to streamline operations and reduce operational costs.
• Builds a project management culture within the team and oversee small to medium projects using the STERIS IT project management practice and tools. Builds a team of consultative resources who, beyond performing technical work, provide guidance to project managers and colleagues about the work being done and its potential impact to other systems.
• Ensures data recovery, integrity, space requirements, and performance for physical databases are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards.
• Leverages a strong financial acumen to contribute to the profit planning process and maintain accountability for project and operational costs throughout the fiscal year
Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related degree.
• Ten plus years of staff management experience managing core and application DBAs in a mission-critical, enterprise capacity
• Ability to build strong collaborative experiences with staff resources located in different geographic regions and organize production and project efforts that leverage resources in different time zones
• Proven experience successfully deploying productivity improvements and organizational development techniques to grow team capabilities and meet growing business demands
• Development of multi-year technology and organizational roadmaps that align with corporate and departmental strategic plans
• Seven plus years of experience building and managing a budget
• Ten years of experience working with any combination of Oracle EBS, SAP, Siebel, and Data Warehouse platforms
• Five plus years of in-depth experience in design, modeling, developing, administration, programming, and supporting large RDBMS preferred, including some combination of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and SAP HANA platforms. Experience with MySQL and Snowflake is a plus
• Two plus years of technical leadership experience on a Production (7x24) database and application team to resolve complex technical issues.
