Position Summary
Reporting to the Finance Director EMEA this is a new role within the STERIS Finance Department. Based out of our Derby Office location on a hybrid basis this full time role is responsible for providing technical financial reporting guidance across the EMEA region, and Corporate centre, being a technical expert in the preparation of financial statements in the UK under IFRS, and is required to have a strong understanding of US GAAP.
The role will also support EMEA legal entity simplification projects, treasury and cash repatriation projects and be the central corporate accounting expert for the EMEA region. Supported the North Territory Financial Reporting Manager this role acts in close collaboration with the central EMEA HQ Corporate Finance, Tax, Treasury, teams and with STERIS US Corporation.
Duties
Duties of the role include:
Oversee the review and preparation statutory financial statements under FRS 102 for all UK entities, including the coordination of disclosure items and tax calculations.
2. Implementation of an automated, leaner, more visible UK financial statement preparation process and roll-out to EMEA entities with the Financial Reporting Manager
3. Provide technical support and training to EMEA on a variety of issues including US GAAP and new/revised accounting standards.
4. Participate in legal entity organizational structure changes such as mergers, business transfers and strike-offs.
5. Participate in integration activities associated with STERIS acquisitions and divestitures.
6. Participate to tax/treasury driven initiatives such as capital reductions, capital contributions and dividends, including process for identifying and monitoring of distributable reserves.
7. Oversee the audit process and liaise with the auditors regarding outstanding information and resolution of issues, in particularly associated with legal entity changes.
8. Assist with the collation and coordination of SOX documentation and audits throughout the territory.
9. Support territory level projects such as continuous improvement and transformation projects.
10. Perform other related duties and special projects as required.
Required Experience
1. Preparation of financial statements demonstrating up-to-date technical knowledge (5 years +)
2. Experience in an accounting practice environment (3 years +) ACA or ACCA qualified Chartered Accountant
3. Broad accounting experience demonstrating adaptability and application of technical knowledge (5 years +)
4. Corporate Accounting experience (3 years +) in a European HQ of an International group or a Corporate accounting Manager within a UK listed plc with overseas subsidiaries (c 1bn$ turnover businesses

Technical Skills:
a. Strong technical accounting policy knowledge (FRS 102 / US GAAP)

c. Balance Sheet Controls & Reconciliation experience
