Position Summary

Supports the Sales function for STERIS Applied Sterilization Technologies (AST) through developing and managing Customer accounts to increase sales and business under contract from assigned territory. Implements selling strategies, conducts Customer appointments/business reviews, negotiates and executes long-term agreements, and presents new technologies and services while demonstrating understanding of Customer needs and expectations. Colloborates and partners with processing facilities to educate and assist plant personnel in meeting Customers’ sterilization goals and objectives.

Duties

1.    Sells contract radiation and gas sterilization services and associated validation and support services as developed. 

2.    Negotiates effectively to secure long-term business contracts including terms and conditions and pricing while adhereing to the AST pricing philosophy and tools. 

3.    Communicates Customer requirements and assists in transitioning the sale of contract sterilization services to the operations process. 

4.    Provides timely reporting of activities to the Regional Sales Director, Vice President of Sales, and Operations personnel to assist with planning. 

5.    Assists in establishing strategic territory sales objectives to meet revenue and contract quotas by collaborating with Regional Sales Director and Vice President of Sales. Evaluates territory performance against established objectives and plans, including analyzing geographical territory dynamics. 

6.    Gathers,analyzes, and reports information on competitor strategies to collaborate with marketing and operations functions and objectives. Researches and recommends sales opportunities and methods, as well as new Customers that show business and growth potential.

7.    Assists Operations personnel to facilitate any receivables issues and resolve other Customer concerns. 

8.    Increases sales revenues by developing strong long-term business relationships with new and current Customers. Travels frequently to meet and conduct business reviews/OTOG events with Customers.

9.    Maintains current knowledge of industry and market trends as well as technical knowledge and understanding of all sterilization modalities. 
 
10.    Supports Corporate Account Directors and Global Account Vice Presidents through coordination of services for national and global scope Customers.

11.    Represents STERIS and AST contract sterilization, laboratory, and technical validations services in a knowledgeable, professional, and ethical manner. 

12.    Maintains professional skills, knowledge and abilities by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.

13.    Contributes to team effort by performing to the guidelines outlined in the STERIS Code of Business Conduct, and other directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher level management and accomplishes other duties as assigned. 

14.    Communicates in an effective manner by utilizing accepted business practices in a courteous and professional manner providing timely and accurate responses and service-oriented offers of assistance. 

Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience

Experience and Skills:
1.    Minimum of five (5) years of experience in territory sales or account management. 
2.    Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English. 
3.    Requires ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision. 
4.    Requires computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet, powerpoint and software capabilities. 
5.    Effective interpersonal and cross functional group leadership skills as demonstrated through prior experience. 
6.    Above average organizing, analyzing and a minimum of Level 3 math skills (ratios, proportions basic algebra) to determine organizational Customer and regulatory problems to formulate corrective action plans. 
7.    Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. 
8.    Ability to influence people in their opinions, attitude or judgments; to generalize, evaluates and makes decisions in stressful situations. 
9.    Requires normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.; normal visual acuity. 
10.    Nature of Problem Solving
•    Creative latitude based on sound scientific and analytical principles in order to meet the dynamics of a broad Customer base as well as a wide range of technical issues. 
•    Within established guidelines, resolves issues related to sales, Customer complaints, deviations and Customer satisfaction. 
•    Establish effective and profitable solutions to Customer issues. 
11.    Empowerment and Decision Making Environment
•    Resolve Customer issues. 
•    Organize and plan sales calls to optimize time and budget.
