What is involved?

  • Ensuring the effective preparation of sterile consumables, instruments, and equipment) by the process of decontamination, inspection assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
  • Rigorously checking instruments, laying up and packing sets of theatre instruments in trays to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
  • Safely operating and monitoring machines and equipment used in the decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments.
  • Ensuring that repairs and missing instruments or equipment are recorded and logged on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
  • Ensuring that repaired instruments or equipment are returned to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Working Hours

Full-time 37.5 hrs, must be available 7 days a week including weekends and evenings (no nights) on-call rota. Shifts are scheduled:

- 7:00-15:00 or 13:00-21:00 on weekdays.

- 7:00-15:00 or 12:00-20:00 on Saturdays.

- 8:00-16:00 on Sundays.

Specific shift patterns will be discussed during the interview.
