Position Summary
In this position you will be responsible for the purchase of assigned commodities to meet production needs and internal specifications. As a Buyer you will negotiate with and manage relationships with suppliers, will complete all necessary transactional work for purchasing, and will address and quality issues related to supplier product
What You Will Do
Process/approve/monitor purchase orders according to the spending matrix and business needs
• Ensure materials availability to support production schedule
• Control and monitor raw materials inventory levels, ensuring they are kept at appropriate levels according to demand and production plans
• Roll out cost saving & continuous improvement initiatives
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers
• Handle disputes and quality issues with suppliers
• Research and select new suppliers from a cost, quality and delivery perspective
• Work towards department KPI’s and performance settings (e.g. OTD, Service level, BO)
• Work closely with Planning, Master Data, Tech Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, Logistics, Regulatory, R&D
• Support the launch of new products and sustaining projects from a purchasing perspective
Education Degree
What Will Help You Be Successful
Minimum 5 years working experience in procurement/purchasing roles. Will accept minimum seven (7) years experience in lieu of degree.
Knowledge of SAP, ERP systems required. APICS training is a benefit
Experience with international shipping including freighter logistics, tariff's, duties, longer lead times, etc. is a benefit
Independent worker, proactive, able to anticipate and resolve issues
Critical thinking, problem solving and negotiation skills
Ability to think end to end when dealing with challenges and opportunities
Ability to prioritize within multiple day-to-day activities and projects
