The Role

 

The Production Supervisor leads a team of skilled or semi-skilled workers engaged in various aspects of the production/manufacturing and maintenance functions of the HuFriedyGroup business. This position has the authority and accountability to select, train and direct their workforce and shall utilize key company processes effectively to achieve business results. The supervisor role is a key driver of employee engagement and maintaining a positive employee relations environment. May be asked to cover for Value Stream Manager, in their absence.

 

2nd Shift Mon – Thurs (Four 10-hour days) 2:45 pm to 1:15 am 

 

Supervisors are expected to be onsite early before and remain after the team shift to hand off to the next supervisor. 

What You Will Do

  • Develops a shop floor culture that is focused on the achievement of the businesses’ objectives in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC), by continuously focusing on waste elimination and following standard work.
  • Leads daily SQDC board meetings, trains and develops employees to meet expectations, ensures the working environment is safe through direct monitoring of behavior and equipment, incident response, mitigation and investigation as issues occur during the shift, and providing individual and group feedback on successes and opportunities to improve performance.
  • Identify opportunities for countermeasures and participate in facility lean committees.
  • Supports the company’s Lean business system, through participation in Kaizen events, generation of countermeasures and implementation, participation in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • First point of contact for mitigation and investigation of issues related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Drives employee engagement by implementing and using Lean processes. Creates an environment of positive employee relations by creating a safe and productive work environment, listening to, and addressing employee concerns, enforcing company policy and constructively managing employee performance.
  • Participates in the interview and selection of new employees; assures the team has necessary skill and tools to complete work, ensures that shifts are properly staffed, assigns daily work to achieve Customer objectives. Regularly assesses skill level and performance, and addresses gaps, to ensure employees are capable of meeting expectations.

 

What You Will Also Do

  • Ensures smooth shift transitions via personnel planning. Collaborates effectively across functions with Quality, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Planning etc.
  • Participates in and supports Customer quality audits.
  • Monitors production throughout shift to assure safety, quality, and delivery. Tracks KPI’s, and updates SQDC boards.
  • Work autonomously (may work on an off shift) with sole responsibility for leading the production function of that shift and may be asked to supervise other departments in the absence of supervision (e.g. vacation coverage, unexpected absences, etc.).

What You Will Need to Be Successful

 

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a leader/supervisor, preferably in a similar operation or industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent supervisory skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, communication skills
  • Experience with new hire training and mentoring new employees and supervisors.
  • Solid computer skills, MS Office Suite, SAP or other MRP programs

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, preferred.
  • Experience with the manufacturing scheduling processes, dental instrument manufacturing processes including making, assembling, finishing and production support processes, as well as experience in extruding, printing presses and injection molding, a plus

Skills

  • Qualified Equipment Operator, able to drive a fork truck.
  • Ability to learn science of sterilization modalities.
  • Four basic functions of mathematics
  • Effective communication skills; conduct team meetings
  • Delegation | Collaboration |Conflict resolution.
  • Microsoft Office suite

Pay range for this opportunity is $58,250.00 - $81,637.50.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
