Position Summary

This position will require conducting a variety of facility and equipment repair tasks involving technical and maintenance skills. This individual will support the facility manufacturing activities by ensuring equipment is maintained and/or repaired in a timely manner. Communication skills, both oral and written, are required to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner. Each maintenance activity will be approached in such a manner to ensure safety is the number one priority. Mechanics will support the installation, testing, and validation of new production equipment procured to meet the needs of the various production facilities.

$1500 Sign on/Stay Bonus (Not applicable to internal applicants)

Schedule: 2nd Shift - 4-10's Schedule -  Monday-Thursday 

2:45 pm - 1:15 am

$1 Shift Differential

Duties

  • Perform preventive maintenance, on manual, semi-automated, and automated equipment utilizing blueprints, technical manuals, or manufacturer specifications. Utility systems for facility and building related items.  This could involve electrical, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and hydraulics systems. Clearly record results, and recommendations or changes if needed on PM provided work orders.    
  • Recognize and perform machine adjustments to the various machine systems, operational interlocks, sensors, energy isolation systems, and other ancillary inputs to machine controls according to Company safety procedures.  
  • Analyze and determine corrective actions or repairs based on operational and trouble messages provided by Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) Display Monitors, CNC control panels or other similar display panels.    
  • Maintain certifications for calibrated equipment, maintenance documentation, machine history, and all other appropriate documentation.   
  • Analyze and determine necessary repairs or improvements to facility and building related supporting systems, including industrial electrical, pneumatics, plumbing, HVAC, lighting systems, structural components.   
  • Assist Engineering with installation, testing, application designs, modifications and validation of new production equipment.    
  • Ability to prioritize planned/unplanned work requests based on safety and or production needs for the facility, without direct supervision.   
  • Clearly understand and follow all Lock Out Tag Out procedures, and Arc Flash requirements as outlined in STERIS HSE/ procedures.     
  • Correctly identify replacement machine components, supplies, and supplier.  Make contact, make purchase decision based on cost and production needs, fill out requisition or make immediate purchase.    
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • Consistent proficiency in the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams and machine design blueprints. 2 –5 years' experience 

  • Sound troubleshooting, investigational and follow up skills in areas of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment. 2 –5 years' experience 

  • Assist with training other maintenance mechanics. 1-2 years' experience.  

Preferred Experience

  • Technical College degree preferred in, Industrial Maintenance, Machine Tool Technology or Electrical/Instrumentation.

  • Knowledge, understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing tools, such as, 5S, Kanban Inventory, Visual Management, Waste elimination, and Root Cause Problem Solving are preferred. 

Skills

  • Must possess a basic knowledge regarding hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and be able to diagnose, select and install components related to the same. 

  • Must be able to conduct each maintenance activity independently and with safety being the priority.  

  • Basic use of computer systems and software.   

  • Ability to safely perform job related functions working from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding and elevated platforms. 

  • Ability to make decisions and stay quality focused. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and members of the leadership team. 

Pay range for this opportunity is $22.60 - $31.55. 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
