Position Summary
Are you passionate about solving technical challenges and eager to actively contribute to the development of innovative mechanical solutions in the field of medical devices? Join our dynamic team as a Mechanical Designer II, where your expertise and creativity will have a direct impact on the quality and performance of our products. As a Designer II you will work in collaboration of our Mechanical Engineers supporting our washer disinfectant product lines.
What You'll do as a Designer II
- Apply internal procedures and external quality standards
- Select and / or design parts or a subset of parts using a computer-aided design (CAO)
- Lead or participate in investigation and problem-solving activities
- Obtain the technical specifications of their parts from suppliers and ensure that they meet the requirements of STERIS
- Carry out the following technical drawings: parts or sub-assembly of parts, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, workshop plans, manufacturing plans, assembly plans, service plans, illustrations
- Design a portion of the system under the alignment of an engineer
- Enter or provide required information in MRP and PLM systems: part creation, product bill of materials, engineering change requests, etc
- Make all the components of a prototype (doors, pumps, tanks, cabinets, plumbing, pneumatics) and make the necessary adjustments to their installation / operation in accordance with verbal or written directive
- Contribute to various continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Apply DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly) principles
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- DEC / Associate Degree in Mechanical engineering
- 6 years of relevant experience in a related field.
Preferred:
- Up to 9 years of relevant experience in a related field preferred
- Experience with use of PTC Creo (preferred)
- English preferred, both written and spoken
- Experience in a regulated industry preferred
