Position Summary

What you will do
  • You will collaborate on concept phase, design activities, review and report designs’ progress.
  • Assignments are broad in nature, requiring appreciable initiative, originality, ingenuity and excellent problem solving skills. 
  • Responsible for developing electronic hardware designs.
  • Independently take design concepts, requirements, and high level block diagrams, and develop into products with low volume production in compliance with regulatory requirements by ISO, FCC, UL, CE etc.
  • Tasks include designing schematic symbols and incorporating them in schematic designs, working with PCB layout engineers to ensure correct placement of components and routing of traces, analyzing thermal performance of designs, debugging prototype designs using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multi meters and protocol analyzers, and maintaining design and test documentation.
What you need to be successful
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required. MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred. 
  • 10+ years Hardware Engineering experience. 
  • Hardware design experience including writing specifications requirements and test plans.
    • Mentor Graphics DX Designer
    • Mentor PCB Viewer
    • Cadence OrCAD
    • Cadence Allegro PCB Viewer
    • High-Speed Oscilloscope fluency (around 12 GHz)
    • PCBs with over 10 layers populated with Xilinx 7 family FPGAs.
    • PCBs populated with DDR3-1333 or higher SDRAM.
    • PCBs populated with5+ Gbps Fiber modules.
    • PCBs populated with embedded microcontrollers whether ASIC (like PIC by Microchip) or intra-FPGA (Zynq ARMs or Microblaze).
    • HDMI 2.0 or other 4K video experience and knowledge.
Qualifications cont.
  • Additional experience desired inculdes broad video standards experience encompassing:
    • Xilinx Vivado  
    • SPI and I2C devices.
    • PCIe
    • FPGA based SERDES interfaces from the PCB design perspective.
    • CML/TMDS, LVDS, LVCMOS, and SSTL related standards and termination schemes
    • VGA
    • DVI
    • 3G-SDI or higher.
