Position Summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, entrepreneurial team that is part of a well-established, global, multi-billion-dollar company.  The primary objective of Verification and Validation is to ensure that STERIS products are safe, effective, high quality, and meet all requirements. As such, we want someone who will advocate for a quality product and is willing to speak up for the needs of the user and the product. The Senior V&V Engineer will use their analytical and logic skills as part of the development team to perform verification and validation testing for cutting edge OR Integration medical device and healthcare products. You will support development and maintenance activities throughout the life of the products.

What you will do
  • Participate in requirements analysis to ensure requirements are testable and unambiguous.
  • Perform requirements traceability for engineering projects to ensure requirements are met and valid acceptance criteria exists for all user needs.
  • Have responsibility for test plan and acceptance criteria development from product needs and requirement specifications.
  • Work closely with development engineers to develop V&V test plans and protocols.
  • Develop software, hardware and system test tools for V&V, including automatic testing tools.
  • Design, setup and/or configure test environments, including virtualized test environments.
  • Execute V&V test protocols ensuring that designs meet or exceed defined design specifications and user needs.
  • Develop test reports to document and present test results.
  • Create product release documentation, including release notes and input to instructions for use for new product introductions and legacy product enhancements.
  • Consult with cross functional team such as development engineers, marketing, and service/implementation engineers to identify and resolve requirements, usability, software, hardware, and systems related issues with the products
  • Interact with technical support team members to solve reliability issues and/or answer general product questions.
  • Analyze field reports and/or returned products and recommends corrective action for future improvements.
  • Analyze data logged on integration products and helps with statistical analysis.
What you need to be successful
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics required
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics preferred
  • 5+ years of overall relevant experience in product design engineering environment.
  • 5+ years of verification and validation experience.
  • 3+ years regulated industry experience, Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols
  • Manual test methods, test case creation and test case execution experience required.
  • Experience with Unit, Integration and System-level testing
  • Familiarity with IEC, ISO software development standards required, AAMI/IEC 62304 preferred.
  • Experience testing embedded electronics and embedded firmware.
  • Programming experience in at least two languages (C, C++, C#, scripting languages, .NET programming languages).
  • DevOps tools exposure (Visual Studio/Eclipse, GIT/Subversion, Jenkins/Bamboo, JIRA/DOORS, etc..).
  • Experience testing in Windows Server and Linux OS Environments.
  • Experience with database testing techniques.
  • Excellent technical document reading and writing skills.
  • Familiarity with design controls, risk management and V&V activities.
