Position Summary

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for running new product development projects in the STERIS ORI business, the PM leads the cross functional team from project authorization to commercialization to complete projects on time, on scope and on cost. The PM will also work to improve the organization’s new product development process and capabilities through training, influence and improvement projects. 

The PM achieves these objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.

What you will do
  • You will develop the cross-functional plan/strategy and drive execution of identified products on the roadmap for a product line or platform. In addition, the PM will own the overall program management of the product development to ensure targets are met (quality, costs, reliability, manufacturability, etc.).
  • Working in conjunction with the development team and cross functional partners you will ensure the lifecycle management process is followed. Identify critical dependences, risks and contingency plans.  Proactively monitor progress, anticipating the effect of dependencies on schedule, cost, etc.
  • Responsibilities also include coordinating the preparation of project plans, specifications, operating budgets and act as the primary leader for program activities, leading program review session to discuss cost schedule, and technical performance.
  • The PM will establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedule; Identify program problems and obtain solutions such as allocation of resources or changing specifications.
  • Leadership is essential as you will direct the work of the assigned cross –functional team members involved in product definition, development, production, regulatory, install, service and clinical apps.  Facilitate communication and interaction among functional business heads to ensure transparency of critical deliverables and milestones in the NPD process.
  • You will deliver critical, timely communications to the business (R&D Leader, GM, and Marketing) on product development and delivery.
  • Following the product through full life cycle development, you will ensure smooth transition across the organization for initial concept through product development, manufacturing and product launch.
What you need to be successful
  • Bachelor's degree  in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Business or other related discipline is required.
  • 10 + years of Program Management experience in a new product development within an Engineering function.
  • 7+ years of industry experience working as part of a cross functional team involved in product development using formal software development process and procedures.
  • 3+ years Healthcare/Medical Device industry experience preferred.
