Position Summary
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will perform analyses, resolve issues using problem solving techniques to execute mechanical or electromechanical solutions for components, and support the feasibility, design, and development of new and innovative products or solutions for our Customers.
This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite at our Plymouth, MN location, 4 days per week.
What You'll do as a Senior Mechanical Engineer
- Perform analysis and resolve issues using problem solving techniques to develop new and innovative solutions for our Customers.
- May represent R&D as NPD core team member.
- Design, develop, document and execute mechanical and/or electromechanical solutions for components and assemblies to meet company and/or department goals.
- Perform full range of engineering duties and project assignments based on general instructions and guidance from supervisor or lead engineers.
- Use mechanical engineering principles of statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and hydraulics and material science to develop design solutions for medical devices.
- Use 2D and 3D cad software as well as other analysis software.
- Solve complex mechanical engineering problems by applying a broad knowledge of engineering or scientific principles.
- Determine technical feasibility of new product concepts.
- Demonstrate success in design and development necessary to commercialize complex electromechanical products as part of an engineering team.
- Incorporate new technologies (state of the art)/ innovations in certain disciplines.
- Tier 3 OEM Customer responder.
- Collaborate w/ Marketing, Q&R, Manufacturing, Service, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs, Vendors, Suppliers and Consultants.
- Demonstrate ability to translate technical information to non-technical.
- Subsystem level oversight.
- Lead activities of technicians and designers in support of project assignments and goals.
- Design, develop and implement activities required to support both new product development, and/or solve problems on current products, by applying skills in one or several branches of science and engineering.
- Apply code/standards guidelines and requirements to product design.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related Engineering degree
- Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience
- Experience with design controls (process) in a highly regulated industry
- Demonstrated experience in a variety of materials, technologies and manufacturing methods, such as:
• Metals, plastics, rubber composites
• Bearings, hydraulics, seals, optics
• Welding, machining, forming, casting, molding - Expertise in 3D CAD Modeling (PRO/E preferred)
Preferred:
- Experience solving complex engineering problems through accurate interpretation of requirements and test results
- Strong communication
- Prior experience working in a team
- Graduate coursework desirable
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma / (DFMA) Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, Serviceability is desirable
- Experience with design controls (process) in a highly regulated industry; medical preferred

Pay range for this opportunity is $90,000.00 - $100,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
