Position Summary

 The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the purchasing team (including buyer and production control coordinator) for the short-term and long-term direction of the Purchasing Department in a manufacturing environment. You will optimize material resources in terms of on-time delivery, cost and plant inventory levels. You will support the plant operations in reducing parts shortages, while managing appropriate inventory levels. In addition, you will also be responsible for continuous improvement initiatives and providing direction/support for purchasing and sourcing activities. The Purchasing Manager will own/develop internal performance and supplier metrics, implementing corrective actions as required and establish procedures pertaining to purchasing and supply activities.  


  • Analyze and forecast all aspects of capital equipment supply chain.
  • Lead strategic projects that bring exceptional value to the company through key supplier relationships and cost/benefit financial analysis.
  • Prepare required reports and provide detailed analysis of spend, inventory, and cost savings.
  • Lead all continuous improvement efforts relative to systems, processes, and supply chain management.
  • Manage supply chain risk through buying strategies, supplier agreements, 2nd sourcing, or other methods to mitigate risk to the business.
  • Prepare and monitor inventory plan and report out monthly performance.
  • Support fiscal year financial requirements of budget preparation and standard cost roll up.
  • Manage the production control coordinator team to assure daily production schedules are communicated and managed, addressing supply chain issues. 
  • Plan and negotiate contracts with favorable impact on inventory goals, quality, and continuity of supply and corporate cost objectives.
  • Establish and manage supplier performance, identify improvement objectives for suppliers, and take the necessary actions to ensure that objectives are met.


Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 10 years of experience in related field such as Operations, Materials, or Supply Chain Management
  • 5 years of experience in management of direct reports
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and an ERP software such as SAP or Oracle
