Position Summary

At STERIS, the Production Planner is responsible to ensure that an uninterrupted flow of product is available to meet Customer demand/forecast as agreed upon with Global Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Service via the Sales Operation & Planning (S&OP) model. An understanding of best practices in scheduling, MRP systems, and data/metric analysis is essential for this role to be successful.

What You Will Do

  • Formulates the master production plan that best meets market forecasts, inventory objectives and customer requirements, and inputs to MRP for assemble to order products.
  • Analyze, develop, and publish weekly production schedules as well as update MPS system with 52 week planned requirements.
  • Scheduling of customer sales orders in Oracle based on availability and customer expectations.
  • Interfaces with sales, engineering, customer service, marketing, and manufacturing to resolve customer and facility build requirements.
  • Provides inputs to demand planning on shipment schedules, plans and forecast based on capacity.
  • Releases work orders to the manufacturing floor aligned with the production plan.
  • Coordinate and participate in Phase In / Phase Out Product meetings to eliminate/reduce obsolete inventory impact.
  • Constantly maintain, evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements in materials production schedule (MPS) and material requirements planning (MRP) to drive down inventory levels.

•    Develop and maintain procedures and work instructions to support master planning.
•    Researches and resolves daily MPS and MRP problems including identifying product structure problems, input and other errors.
•    Performs extensive data entry.
•    Responsible for creating, measuring, disseminating and presenting statistical data and variance reporting and analysis.
•    Ensure proper load and maintenance of the MPS as well as any Master Planned Order
•    Schedule sales orders in Oracle to availability, SSQ lead-time and to best meet customer’s requirements
•    Deliver excellent customer service to the Field to support strong Customer satisfaction in the STERIS brand.

What Will Help You Be Successful

•    Bachelor degree preferred with minimum of three (3) years relevant experience.  Minimum of thirteen (13) years experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
•    APICS (CPIM/CIRM) or other Planning related certifications preferred, but not required.
•    Knowledge of ERP Systems, Master Production Scheduling, Material Requirement Planning, Production Planning, and Capacity Planning. 
•    Creating and maintaining detailed master production plan that aligns with S&OP process.
•    Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office.
•    Previous experience with Oracle, SAP, or similar manufacturing systems.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement projects and lean tools. 
•    Demonstrated effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
•    Demonstrated technical ability to utilize supply chain planning tools and systems.
•    Strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, and able to synthesize considerable amounts of complex data.
