By acting as a trusted STERIS advisor to all Customers, an Equipment Service Technician will drive an exceptional Customer experience by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, equipment modifications, calibration, validation, and installation support on various mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic units.

 

Equipment Service Technicians provide superior Customer service by proactively interacting with Customers daily and by completing associated administrative tasks as required.

 

This is a safety sensitive position. This territory covers the greater Pittsburgh area.

What you will do as an Equipment Service Technician

  • Drive Customer satisfaction through proactive communication and commitment to resolving Customer’s issues and problems expediently.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance required on STERIS and related product lines in a safe and efficient manner, (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.).
  • Performs admin duties as assigned to ensure effective planning, utilization, and required paperwork completion.
  • Develops and maintains effective, communicative relationships with Customers, managers, support functions and the sales organization. Communicates activities to Customers related to scheduling Preventative Maintenance and estimated time of arrival for unscheduled work.
  • Proactively responds to and resolves Customer problems/issues. Utilizes provided product and industry knowledge to assure Customers’ expectations of service are exceeded.
  • Increase company growth through identifying sales opportunities and recommending STERIS products/services to Customers. Communicate leads to management and sales staff. Be a positive ambassador for STERIS at Customer sites.
  • Responds to routine Customer and sales questions regarding equipment operation and performance. Identifies opportunities, sizing, utility requirements, on-site visits, and pre-installation evaluations. Provides timely service calls, warranty calls, field upgrade programs, etc.
  • Maintains courteous and professional demeanor when working with Customers, contractors, management, and fellow employees. Utilizes Customer protocols when entering and exiting facilities and abides by all STERIS and Customer Health & Safety protocols and procedures.

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • High School Diploma with 2 years of experience in repair and maintenance of equipment, or similar experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, sometimes outside “normal business hours” and travel as required.
  • Must be able to be compliant with hospital/customer credentialing requirements.

 

Preferred:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in electronics, mechanical or similar discipline preferred.
  • Competitive/Competitor equipment training or related military experience
  • General knowledge of cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and GEP (Good Engineering Practice) widely used in pharmaceutical and research environments.

 

Other:

  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills
  • General knowledge of the principles and methods of sterilization, steam systems, sterilizers, and other methods of sterilization / decontamination.
  • Strong Customer communications skills and experience with the demonstrated ability to build positive rapport and partner with a variety of Customers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and Windows software. Proficiency with web technologies and navigating internet/intranet sites.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple and changing priorities.

Pay range for this opportunity is $54,187.50 - $70,125.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
