Position Summary

The Clinical Education Manager (CEM) supports Hu-Friedy’s academic and schools business by delivering cutting edge research and education to thought leaders and clinicians who support the use of Hu-Friedy instrumentation.  The CEM is responsible for the overall financial performance and customer satisfaction in their assigned multi-state territory with a value of approximately $2-3 million.  This is accomplished by meeting yearly sales goals, driving growth in market share from competitors, and assuring that all customer experiences are positive, noteworthy and exceeding expectations.  The CEM is directly responsible for providing educational programs and developing brand awareness and loyalty.

The CEM will make sales, engage with customer contacts and provide all business follow-up with dental schools and dental hygiene schools in assigned multi-state territory.  This position will support Hu-Friedy sales efforts to maintain and grow business as well as implement specific programs to ensure continued growth of sales, profits and customer loyalty.  The CEM is expected to balance their time selling our established line of products as well as all new product introductions.  Using their clinical expertise, consultative selling skills and competencies, and thorough understanding of the dental industry and market need, the CEM focuses on positioning Hu-Friedy products to provide solutions for our customers.

Duties

  • Identify and develop strong business relationships with key personnel at academic institutions to ensure continued sales growth. These key personnel could include (but are not limited to) Deans, Clinical Chairs, Department Chairs, Faculty Members, Purchasing and Procurement Agents, Sterilization employees, Continuing Education employees, etc.*  Continuously strengthen these relationships by both frequent communication and on-going self-education of industry changes.
  • Drives sales by demonstrating a deep understanding of the products, the needs of the clinicians/students and the clinical/technical information required.  Understands the need to integrate divergent information sources to increase decision making confidence about infection control, efficient workflows, and promote better patient outcomes.
  • Close sales, take sales orders, and inform management, of customer purchasing decisions and new product or program requirements.  Consistently analyzes data to improve and develop their territory.  Obtain highest margin and revenue sales goals by providing solution-based opportunities for the customer.
  • Provide complete and thorough follow through for orders to ensure proper product assembly, delivery, shipment and billing. Notify the appropriate process team of customer requirements for large orders. Define product requirements for special and custom instrument requests.
  • Identify and develop special activities and sales/marketing promotions, and identify and attend conventions, factory tours, etc. to grow the business. Implement marketing and sales programs for school customers to maximize sales and Hu-Friedy brand awareness.
  • Assess need for and plan, implement, evaluate, and deliver education and training programs for a variety of clinical and support staff, including, but not limited to hands on equipment presentation.
  • When appropriate, communicate and coordinate with Regional Account Managers (RAM) within the specified region, including inviting RAMs to school presentations in the territory. Collaborate with Hu-Friedy RAM’s in the transition of graduates into clinical practice.
  • Assess and monitor customer satisfaction and provide feedback to Managers, Executives and other departments as appropriate.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the dental industry (dental hygiene practice/clinician, dental sales and/or educator)
  • Minimum 3 years outside sales experience and experience with higher education customers
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business, Hygiene, or other Dental program preferred
  • Active Dental Hygienist License Required
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical dental skills
  • Excellent teaching/presentation skills – experience in didactic or clinical education.
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful client relationships and proven sales success.
  • Accommodation of a customary and regular travel schedule including overnight travel of up to 60%. Person is willing and able to travel by air on commercial airlines, as well as by taxi, train, and bus
  • Must occasionally work weekends
  • Must have a valid driver’s license issued in one of the 50 states and a clean driving record.  Must have means of transportation to make sales calls based in the covering territory
