Position Summary

Lead, drive and co-establish the Ethylene Oxide (EtO) engineering and maintenance strategy in line with STERIS targets and programs and in line with applicable regional regulations subject to environmental, occupational and safety regulations.

Working in alignment with the HSSE team, Engineering and Plant leads to define standards and blueprints for existing plants and future builds and to upgrade/retrofit where appropriate.

Lead and drive together with Plant leads defined Capital investment projects to improve quality, reliability, Safety and environmental aspects. Act as effective Project Manager Lead.

Manage Critical Supplier Commercial relationships and Contracts.

Work as part of the EMEA-APAC leadership team across all EtO plants.

Promote and facilitate plans for improvements in Plant’s safety, reliability and availability.

Manage Critical component (parts) inventory and set-up an effective structure and system to enable this.

Duties

1. Lead and drive the implementation of defined Capital investment projects to further improve and upgrade Safety, environmental, quality and reliability aspects; i.e. define ventilation strategy for DLC, aeration and general warehousing resulting in multilayer solution for both environmental and occupational health exposure which is implementable at the EO sites based on an EO site specific blueprint.
2. Develop a STERIS engineering standard for an ‘EtO Plant’ including the USA and benchmark all Regional facilities with a clear action plan and risk register, standardising where appropriate, to include:
   1. Chamber design
   2. Air handling
   3. Degassing
   4. Preconditioning
   5. Product handling
3. Develop a tool for monitoring critical components of the EtO plants.
4. Put in place suitable service contracts and (critical) spare parts procurement where appropriate.
5. Facilitate information and engineering know-how and best practise sharing across sites through regular meetings and communication.
6. Provide leadership to ensure safe engineering practices by development of an effective safety culture, enforcement of safety practices in compliance to internal and external requirements and regulations. Develop and implement Hazard control procedures.

   1. Identify critical components
   2. Ensure all Critical Suppliers meet STERIS standards and manage their performance
   3. Introduce risk based review of all Critical components
   4. Introduce Innovative tool to monitor asset performance
2. Identify and develop appropriate Standardised training requirements for EtO engineers and support implementation.
3. Interpret local regulatory standards and ensure Plants are Compliant to
   1. Environmental
   2. Occupational
   3. Major Hazard Control
   4. Engineering
4. Provide leadership to ensure continuous improvement of maintenance processes and activities in line with STERIS world class safety objectives and the Quality management system
5. Ensure that the Engineering team operates within and towards the published STERIS Corporate vision and global objectives, including LEAN, 5S, Sustainability and One Team One Goal strategies.
