Working Pattern
Full-time, 40 hrs per week on Monday-Friday at 8:00-16:30.
What is involved?
- The Passivation Operator is responsible for the skilled operation of the Cleaning and Passivation System, utilising specialised equipment to clean and treat medical instruments, ensuring they meet quality standards and have enhanced durability.
- A key responsibility is performing daily system maintenance, which includes essential tasks such as monitoring fluid levels, accurately recording system readings and cycle data for traceability purposes, and replenishing fluids to maintain optimal system performance.
- Maintaining system cleanliness is crucial, and the role involves the regular cleaning of the equipment and the surrounding work area to ensure a clean and organised environment.
- The role also includes managing consumable supplies, requiring the monitoring and maintenance of an adequate inventory of necessary supplies to support the efficient operation of the passivation process.
- The Passivation Operator will assist with maintenance activities, providing support and collaborating with external contractors during periodic maintenance procedures.
- Packaging finished goods is another responsibility, involving the careful packaging of the cleaned and treated medical instruments in preparation for further processing or despatch.
- When required, the operator will be responsible for operating the Laser Marking machine to apply identification markings, such as barcodes, to the instruments.
- Loading instruments for processing is a core duty, with the operator responsible for carefully loading medical instruments into the cleaning and passivation system to begin the treatment process.
- Processing instruments through solutions is essential, involving ensuring the instruments are correctly processed through the various cleaning and treatment solutions within the system.
- Finally, the operator will be responsible for applying protective coatings to the instruments as part of the passivation process, contributing to their longevity and quality.

Required Experience
- Computer skills (e.g., Oracle, Excel, Word).
- GCSE level or above in verbal and numerical abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
- Experience in routine equipment maintenance.
- Physically capable of handling manual tasks.
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating Passivation and Laser Marking machines.
- Experience in a manufacturing or operations centre.
- Experience with Oracle or similar systems.
