Position Summary

STERIS is seeking a goal oriented technical Sales Professional to actively engage existing and new Customers and develop new opportunities in the regulated Life Science market. You will provide complete and appropriate solutions for every customer in order to increase top line revenue growth and profitability.  In order to achieve success in this role, you must act as a technical sales consultant to customers within the assigned territory. You will be responsible for selling to the Life Science Industry including: Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, and Research Industries.  The current territory includes Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York City and Long Island. Limited overnight travel will be required depending on location. There is some travel for training, and other meetings. There could be changes to this geography based on current and future needs. Candidates can be home based in Connecticut.


  • Present, promote and sell STERIS Life Science products to existing and prospective customers
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
  • Generate leads and qualify prospects
  • Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Achieve sales targets and results within targeted time frame
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members to advance business growth
  • Analyze the territory/market potential and evaluate sales reports on a routine basis
  • Supply management with reports  on customer projects, needs, problems, interests, competitive activities and potential for new products.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and industry trends
  • Continuously improve through feedback from management
  • Represent STERIS in a professional and ethical manner
  • Support the directives and decision of higher level management
  • Negotiate to achieve agreements that provide a mutually acceptable solution to STERIS and Customer

Education Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Engineering, or Biological Sciences (Chemistry, Microbiology) or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, listening and analytical skills
  • Minimum three to five years’ field based technical sales experience desired with proven success selling into pharmaceutical maufacturing or biopharma manufacturing environment.
  • Computer experience: Microsoft Office competency
  • Ability to travel (percentage is territory dependent)
  • Familiarity with CRM practices along with ability to ability to build productive business professional relationships
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience  (desired)
  • Business acumen
