Position Summary

The Director, Professional Servvices position provides expertise to strategic Customers and STERIS operations in Alternate Care locations such as Ambulatory Surgery Centers across the globe to optimize their operations for success. In this role, you'll lead Professional Services consultants and develops programs that help Customers improve operations, meet accreditation and regulatory standards, and optimize clinical workflows. The role serves as a key industry expert for STERIS, offering market insights, product feedback, and support across multiple Business Units. It includes speaking at industry events, staying current on regulatory and infection prevention practices, and traveling extensively to Customer sites to build strong, trusted relationships and strengthen loyalty to STERIS. This role will require up to 75% nationwide, overnight travel. 

What you will do as Director, Professional Services

  • Deliver consultative expertise to optimize ambulatory surgery and alternate care operations, guiding Customers on improvements and long‑term strategies.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clinical workflows, financial performance, operational efficiency, and leadership effectiveness to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead the design and development of large‑scale Customer solutions aligned with STERIS strategic objectives.
  • Support STERIS sales, Strategic Accounts, and Corporate Accounts teams as the ambulatory surgery subject matter expert to enhance Customer confidence and drive revenue growth.
  • Advise equity owners and Customer leadership on high‑impact financial and operational decisions, including proformas, budgets, and strategic planning.
  • Strengthen STERIS competitive positioning by providing expert insight on opportunities, product gaps, and solution recommendations for high‑value projects.
  • Contribute to contract negotiations and proposal development, ensuring solutions meet both Customer goals and STERIS business objectives.
  • Develop tools, methodologies, and best practices that increase consulting effectiveness and Customer value.
  • Provide expertise to internal teams, including R&D and business units, on industry trends, product needs, and operational opportunities within ambulatory surgery.
  • Maintain deep, current knowledge of ambulatory surgery regulations, accreditation standards, workflow design, sterile processing, reprocessing practices, and industry technologies.
  • Represent STERIS as an industry thought leader through speaking engagements, publications, and participation in national and regional forums.
  • Lead and manage operational, business, and clinical assessments for ambulatory Customers from planning through accreditation readiness.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and 10+ years of experience working with Customers in the healthcare sector and/or tertiary care hospitals, or High School Diploma with 15+ years of experience working with Customers in the healthcare sector and/or tertiary care hospitals.
  • Minimum 5 years in a Sterile Processing or Perioperative leadership position and/or Sterile Processing or Perioperative consulting position with process improvement experience.
  • Strong leadership abilities to manage professional level consultants while driving strategic and tactical plans.  
  • Able to effectively forecast and manage to departmental budget.

Preferred

  • Master's degree
  • Sound business acumen in making strategic decisions based on situational data, observations and analysis. 
  • Experience working in Lean and continuous improvement environments.
  • 10+ years in healthcare and sterile processing
  • 5+ years in lean methology and process improvement
  • 5+ years in manufacturing and/or process-oriented management

Pay range for this opportunity is $141,737.50 - $183,425.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
