Position Summary
As a Welder you will be responsible to weld all ferrous and non-ferrous metals using GMAW, GTAW, Soldering and Brazing for the purpose of manufacturing STERIS® product.
Shift: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm and Friday 7:00am-11:00am
What you will do as a Welder
- Set-up and operate welding equipment (GMAW, GTAW, Brazing, Soldering and Stud Welding) using prescribed methods and procedures to weld parts within acceptable tolerances and standards.
- Ability to build weldments through manual layout process, when required.
- Read and interpret STERIS® welding blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including standard welding symbols, travelers, and other working documents.
- Use required measuring instruments and gages to check and ensure parts meet dimensional requirements.
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and written, with Engineers, Quality personnel, supervisors, and fellow team employees.
- Complete all projects, assignments, and duties as directed and instructed by the area supervisor.
- Take responsibility for the quality of all parts by inspecting and immediately reporting any problems, discrepancies/or irregularities to the supervisor.
- Follow 5S methodology to keep machines and work area clean, neat and orderly on a daily basis.
- Assist in training other employees in the welding department.
- Remain safety conscious at all times, wearing all prescribed personal protective equipment and by observing all safety rules stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Complete any and all projects, assignments and duties as directed and instructed.
- Conform to all policies, procedures and rules of conduct as communicated through the Employee Handbook, Bulletin Boards, Newsletters and any other vehicle by which information is distributed by STERIS Management.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal or no supervision if needed.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- High school graduate/GED
- Minimum two years experience ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Must be able to satisfy AMSE welder performance qualification testing in both GMAW and GTAW welding of stainless, mild steel, and aluminum.
- Must be able to read and interpret welding blueprints, including all standard welding symbols.
- Must be able to use precision measuring instruments and gages.
- Must be capable of lifting 40 pounds without assistance.

Pay range for this opportunity is $21.05 - $27.24. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
