Position Summary

Functional Leadership:  Responsible for the design, development and overall realization of a new product, or sustaining engineering of existing product(s).


Program Leadership: Senior Engineers are expected to lead cross-functional core teams for all phases of new product development or sustaining engineering. Directs all phases of program development from inception to completion of a commercialized product, and launch through the lifecycle of the product.  The programs managed by the Senior Engineers represent critical strategic imperatives and are global in both scale and scope, and have direct visibility to senior management. The recommendations from the Senior Engineers and Core Team have significant long-term impact on the division affecting the financial, employee and customer view of the company.  The role is closely linked to the Product Supervisor of the business line.


Requires working within a cross-functional team supporting the development plans for a product. Must be familiar with a wide variety of the design concepts, practices, and procedures and relies on experience and good judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  • Utilize strong organizational and project tracking skills.
  • Develop and execute departmental goals and objectives.

Establish operating mechanisms to drive collaboration, and decision making agility

  1. Performs full range of engineering duties and project assignments based on general instructions and guidance from supervisor or lead engineers.
  2. Represent CPE as a core team member on NPD and/or PIPC projects
  3. Design, develop, document and execute mechanical and/or electro-mechanical solutions for components and assemblies to meet company and departmental goals.
  4.  Use electrical engineering principles of control system design, power distribution and low voltage process instrumentation engineering to develop design solutions for medical devices.
  5. Solves complex electrical engineering problems by applying a broad knowledge of engineering or scientific principles
  6. Perform analysis and resolve issues using problem solving techniques to develop new and innovative solutions for our Customers.
  7. Use 2D and 3D CAD software as well as other analysis software
  8. Solves complex mechanical engineering problems by applying a broad knowledge of engineering or scientific principles
  9. Determines technical feasibility of new product concepts
  10. Provide technical support to all functional areas of Operations and serve as liaison to Manufacturing for design related product changes
  11. Perform analysis on returned product and perform investigations on Customer complaints
  12. Provide Project Management resource for PIPC and/or appropriately sized projects for product enhancements
  13. Train and mentor Engineers and Designers in Engineering principles
  14. Participate on Lean and Continuous Improvement activities
  15. Prepare and present project and/or technical data to management
Education Degree
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Required Experience
  1. Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
  2. 7+ years experience in Current or R&D environment
  3. 3+ years experience in CPE environment
  4. Minimum 5 years of experience managing / directing an CPE/R&D Team
  5. Minimum 5 years of experience managing / directing NPD/LCM programs
  6. Minimum 5 Years Capital Equipment Experience (Defense, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Appliances)
  7. Exposure to project / program management skills required
  8. Integral role in Multi-Disciplinary Programs (Electrical, Mechanical, Software)


  1. Masters in Engineering Discipline, MBA
  2. Experience in more than one of the following functional areas: Operations, Supply Chain, Quality
  3. Six Sigma Experience
  4. Experience in LEAN Methodologies
  5. PMP certification
  6. Direct experience in pressure vessel design and development
