Position Summary

The Material Prep & Finishing (MP&F) Operator - Level I is responsible for preparing and inspecting parts prior to and after other processes to ensure quality. This Level I role supports production by handling material preparation, cleaning, masking, measuring, cutting, grinding, sanding, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

 

Shift: 11:00pm - 7:00am Sunday - Friday morning ($3.00/hour shift differential for working 3rd shift)

Duties

  1. Meets pulmonary standards: must pass pre-hire Pulmonary Respirator Evaluation, for mask and/or respirator, and annual testing requirements
  2. Read blueprints to identify parts and required tasks.
  3. Use Shop Floor Control systems (such as AS400) to determine job assignments and specifications.
  4. Prepare material surfaces using grinders, sanders, and masking parts.
  5. Perform masking, unmasking, cleaning, and retaping as needed for next process stage.
  6. Visually inspect parts for quality prior and post work.
  7. Operate saw cutting aluminum I-beams and stainless-steel rails (Paint Shop ONLY).
  8. Perform and maintain production and quality standards for grinding, sanding, and deburring of metallic parts.
  9. Maintain safety consciousness at all times, including proper use of required PPE such as dust masks.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  11. Ability to follow written work instructions.
  12. Ability to train and cross train in multiple MP&F Operator tasks; be engaged and retain training.
  13. Adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  14. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist, and stand during entire shift
  15. Ability to lift 20 pounds frequently and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  16. Ability to distinguish colors.

Education Degree

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  1. Pass Pulmonary Respirator Evaluation (Mask fit and test) prior to hire and annual testing thereafter.
  2. Experience working in a production environment.
  3. Basic knowledge of Shop Floor Control applications.
  4. AS400 experience preferred but not required.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
  6. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
  7. Ability to work well with others and adapt to business requirements.
  8. Willingness to work overtime when required.
