Position Summary

As a Manufacturing Supervisor in our STERIS Montgomery, AL location you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising daily production activities, and ensuring delivery of products in accordance with Customer requirements, while complying with applicable company, quality, and regulatory standards. The supervisor will train and coach production employees in creating and sustaining a lean culture aligned with the company’s Vision, Mission and Values. By utilizing key leadership principles of respect, humility, and leading by example, the supervisor will create a positive work environment by engaging employees in the continuous improvement of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost initiatives.

 

 

We offer a "Four 9's and a 4" work schedule. Monday - Thursday you will work 9-hour days and on Fridays work a ½ day.

What You’ll do as a Manufacturing Supervisor

  • Ensure attainment of daily/weekly of production plan by ensuring communication between the cells / shifts, sharing best practices, prioritizing countermeasures among production cells and ensuring proper job performance of all team members.
  • Drive attainment of and improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) performance.
  • Lead with proper adherence to quality system procedures, Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ensure immediate response to abnormalities through identifying, documenting, and segregating nonconforming material.
  • Monitor operational status on all equipment/tools including calibration and certification, escalates as needed.
  • Facilitate a safety culture, performs safety audits to ensure proper use and condition of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), machines, and safeguards, trains individuals on safety procedures and expectations, leads investigations of near misses / incidents and facilitates the implementation of safety and ergonomics improvements.
  • Screen and select qualified individuals for positions, conduct performance reviews, determine salary adjustments, work schedules, promotions, training, and effectively address employee relations situations and manage conflict.
  • Drive optimum employee performance and talent development.
  • Provide growth, training, and development opportunities to employees.
  • Drive results through effective coaching, and counseling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals.
  • Evaluate performance and escalate needs through proper managing and coaching of team members in relation to SQDC board meetings and daily standard reports (daily production, material requirements, etc.).

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required: 

  • High school diploma with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.

 

Preferred: 

  • Associates degree and a minimum of 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience within a medical device manufacturing or highly regulated production environment, strongly preferred. 
  • Experience working with an MRP system such as the AS400.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience working with Lean manufacturing methodologies in a production environment.

Pay rate for this opportunity is $67,362.50 - $87,175.00 This position is eligible for bonus participation. 

 

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
